Smashing a Big Maple with the Bucket Truck - Start to Finish
This is me and the boys knocking down another ugly, decayed Silver Maple at the cemetery using the bucket truck. Tons of captions throughout this one, trying to explain all kinds of things. If you like these longer videos, let me know in the comments, and thanks for being here :) - Patrick

Excellent as always. I just bought a Nifty Lift SD50 and your tips are very helpful. I'll specifically plan to always take a rope and some means of descent with me in case I have to bail out of the bucket; great pointer there! Thanks for continuing to share your work and knowledge. My only complaint is when the guy handed you the 575 he grabbed the bar with the engine running. Even with the chain brake engaged, don't ever put your hand near that chain when its running. The brake can fail, they could bump it and accidentally take the brake off and then if you accidentally grab the trigger it will be ugly. As rare as it is, always, and I mean always teach your guys to never hold onto the bar when handing you a saw.

I’m very curious to why ur rigging the logs I’m sure it’s just preference those logs r very easily pushable and the rigging just takes up more time yes it is safer I’m not arguing that I’m just curious I guess I’m just so spoiled with my crew using equipment all the time that we don’t ever hand drag brush or ever have to use a saw on the ground

Easy grounding there , I’ll one branch to the chipper all day
@MichaelDavis-fb7fl
@MichaelDavis-fb7fl 2 жыл бұрын
Why didn't you face the bucket truck the other way, so the chipper was directly under the tree making it easier on your ground crew. You could have rotated the bucket and worked off the other side of the truck while they were chipping. I also don't understand why you would rig anything, unless you were trying to avoid divots or ground damage. Your in a bucket, cut the tree down! Now putting padding logs down when dropping the trunk to protect the road or to keep the log out of the dirt when your cutting it up makes sense. Just my opinion...

On a scale of 1 to 10 in difficulty, 10 being the most difficult, that was a 1. That whole tree could have been done with 1 man in bucket and 1 on ground and if wood removed...a Dingo & grapple. I would not have lowered one branch. Hang em all on a 9/16" by 8' double braid lanyard and then slice them up in the air while the groundy chips. Shove all the chunks off dingo size.
