I don't care what anyone says, Nothing's Shocking and Gish are two of the best albums ever created by mankind, and I'm glad I discovered them near day one of release. Those two albums blew away myself and everyone around me that heard them.

Jane’s Addiction was a revelation. The band I was in ‘88-90 was basically us copying Jane’s and the Cure. So glad to see Perry and Eric getting along
@ryta12032 ай бұрын
Well, from what I've read Eric sort of founded the band and came up with a lot of ideas that Perry left ripped off. That could be wrong though, who knows.

Lot of people diss both Perry and Billy, i personally like them both as people. They seem more down to earth than people say. The way these two talk to each other is just sweet. I love both bands, Pumpkins is a top 20 band for me, but Jane’s is top 5. Really looking forward to new music from Jane’s and Porno for Pyros.

Man, just saw them in St Louis, what a great time! I remember me & my friends listening to Jane’s, Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, AIC, Rage, ministry, helmet, NIN, Nirvana, chili peppers, breeders, and so much more back in 90-93, when everyone else was still listening to pop rap stuff. I was SO ready for this. I always wished I grew up in the late 60s so I could experience all that great music as it was coming out, but looking back I was pretty lucky to be coming of age right when I did at the beginning of the alternative wave. I just wish I would’ve actually seen these bands live back then. So I FINALLY just saw pumpkins for the first time, and it was my 2nd Janes show. So bummed that Dave is still sick, especially since Eric came back. I hope he fully recovers. But Troy really did an amazing job.

I saw Jane's Addiction live in Jan. 1987 at the Roxy Theater in West Hollywood when they recorded their first album. Good show. That said, I'll always be more partial to the independent music scene that flourished in Los Angeles earlier in the decade (1980 to 1985): X, Black Flag, the Germs, Minutemen, Flesh Eaters, Los Lobos, the Blasters, Dream Syndicate, etc. An amazing variety of local bands fostered by a grass roots music scene.

As someone who graduated HS in the early 90s this strikes a chord. I first heard Janes in 1990ish and became a huge fan. They were kind of pre-grunge. Definitely some 80s hard rock influences but the end result was something pretty unique.

I got to see the Pumpkins with the original lineup back 95 or 96’. Actually, it was minus Jimmy Chamberlain. It was at the Rose Garden arena in Portland, OR. I saw "Smashing Pumpkins" (only billy and jimmy from the original lineup) around 2007 and the opening band was called "satellite party". Like most opening bands you haven't heard of I barely noticed them coming on stage but then they started playing "been caught stealing" and from way way back I thought "is that Perry Farrell??". He proceeded to completely tear it up, finished with Jane Says while coming out into the crowd and sharing his bottle of wine with us.

Funny, Janes Addiction live in 1990 was THE greatest show Ive ever ever seen-it was like the Michael Jordan of concerts, orgasmic, ritualistic, heady, wild a f , the epitome of cool. You almost couldnt believe this was happening. I then happened to be friends with friends of The Pumpkins and got into Trees (dallas tx) underage to see the Smashing Pumpkins debut Gish tour in I think 1992 and I remember thinking this is beyond amazing --almost as good as the Janes show! lol So in essence these WERE the two greatest shows I have pretty much ever seen esp from that era. I still measure bands from those two shows.
