I don't care what anyone says, Nothing's Shocking and Gish are two of the best albums ever created by mankind, and I'm glad I discovered them near day one of release. Those two albums blew away myself and everyone around me that heard them.

Meh. Gish is a poor man’s Nirvana / Pearl Jam. Smashing Pumpkins has some ok songs though. 1979, Today.

@Steve Sherman Nirvana were good (Nevermind was pretty overrated). I think Pearl Jam are boring af. At least Nirvana had energy and great hooks.

Jane’s Addiction was a revelation. The band I was in ‘88-90 was basically us copying Jane’s and the Cure. So glad to see Perry and Eric getting along

Well, from what I've read Eric sort of founded the band and came up with a lot of ideas that Perry left ripped off. That could be wrong though, who knows.

Man, just saw them in St Louis, what a great time! I remember me & my friends listening to Jane’s, Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, AIC, Rage, ministry, helmet, NIN, Nirvana, chili peppers, breeders, and so much more back in 90-93, when everyone else was still listening to pop rap stuff. I was SO ready for this. I always wished I grew up in the late 60s so I could experience all that great music as it was coming out, but looking back I was pretty lucky to be coming of age right when I did at the beginning of the alternative wave. I just wish I would’ve actually seen these bands live back then. So I FINALLY just saw pumpkins for the first time, and it was my 2nd Janes show. So bummed that Dave is still sick, especially since Eric came back. I hope he fully recovers. But Troy really did an amazing job.

I second ALL of that, after seeing them in St Paul the other week (what a show!) but better late than never though. For some reason I never saw these two bands in the 90s, but they couldn't have been any better live then than they are now. Better late than never! Don't miss out on these bands! 😟

I saw Jane's Addiction live in Jan. 1987 at the Roxy Theater in West Hollywood when they recorded their first album. Good show. That said, I'll always be more partial to the independent music scene that flourished in Los Angeles earlier in the decade (1980 to 1985): X, Black Flag, the Germs, Minutemen, Flesh Eaters, Los Lobos, the Blasters, Dream Syndicate, etc. An amazing variety of local bands fostered by a grass roots music scene.

Two iconic bands, two amazing people. True artists are very rare in this world today and Perry and Billy are examples of two of the best we have. Whether you like their music or not you cannot deny the fact they are survivors who weathered every storm and are still out there doing it. That kinda passion is rare.

Lot of people diss both Perry and Billy, i personally like them both as people. They seem more down to earth than people say. The way these two talk to each other is just sweet. I love both bands, Pumpkins is a top 20 band for me, but Jane’s is top 5. Really looking forward to new music from Jane’s and Porno for Pyros.

I got to see the Pumpkins with the original lineup back 95 or 96’. Actually, it was minus Jimmy Chamberlain. It was at the Rose Garden arena in Portland, OR. Their keyboardist had just died and they ended up rescheduling for December of that year. The frogs drummer and keyboardist stood in. Amazing show. The highlight was seeing them play Drown as it segued into Silverf**k. Awesome show.

I saw "Smashing Pumpkins" (only billy and jimmy from the original lineup) around 2007 and the opening band was called "satellite party". Like most opening bands you haven't heard of I barely noticed them coming on stage but then they started playing "been caught stealing" and from way way back I thought "is that Perry Farrell??". He proceeded to completely tear it up, finished with Jane Says while coming out into the crowd and sharing his bottle of wine with us.

Saw Jane's 3 times on the Ritual tour and SP's on the Gish tour opening for the RHCP's. Those Jane's shows were absolutely incredible. Life changing. SP's were great as well. We came for them but the crowd was clueless and unruly. Under the Bridge was blowing up and all that but the Pumpkins playing Rhinoceros in 1991 was why we came. What a time. The LSD didn't hurt either ;)
