I am a retired ABOC certified optician im here to tell you that putting a petroleum based product on some lens coatings will be a costly mistake. Most coatings like anti reflective coatings if cleaned with proper products will not fog up anyway.

dont do this its bad advice, vaseline is petroleum based and weakens most plastics and rubbers vinyls etc unless they are specially made to withstand petrol products such as car tyres and plastic used in engine bays and under the car those are ok, but glass frames and other day to day item will become brittle or just totally fail, use just neat fairy washing liquid instead and polish it off with a dry cloth, it does almost the same job without destroying plastics etc

I do this same hack, but with greasy foods like fried chicken. I take my glasses off while eating and just smear them all over the chicken. Then, I wipe the grease away on my shirt. This leaves a thin protective coat on my lenses that my pets really enjoy licking when I fall asleep on the couch.

No one's mentioned this before ,I have all the coatings, and as someone who has needed glasses since the fourth grade, I'm an old lady 👵, it was quite a surprise. The optometrist recommended using warm water, not hot, along with dish soap and a lint-free cloth, such as my husband's T-shirt or microfiber cloths. Following this advice, my glasses have lasted two years so far.👓 🧐

Actually, petroleum gel is one of the cleanest you can use on your body. No chemicals in it at all. Not much can grow in it either. Perfectly fine to use on eyeballs. Check dry eyes ointment. Not your contact lenses tho.

i applied w,up liquid onto windows to rid of condensation and there was just a bit of condensation . just a tiny drop on a dry j.cloth does half a normal size window and wipe off with another j.cloth . i shall do that on my car windows and my glasses too hence it may be the same effect as vaseline both items work .

That's why you gotta add a little Super Glue into the mix. The Petroleum products will stick to the Super Glue. Once you've removed the Petroleum/Super Glue mixture off of your lenses, then all you have to do is go to the Optometrist and get a new pair of glasses.... Bamm... Brand Spanking New.... Works all the time.

Vasoline works best after removing a growth from your skin for a biopsy. Smear the vasoline on the wound for better healing ( check with your doctor first!), THEN put your glasses on. That's how vasoline and eyeglasses should be used together.

Anti-fog products don’t work, waste of money. I’ve read about using shaving foam; a drop of baby shampoo. My optician said having the glasses too high causes fog, (I’m extremely hot-natured & humid climate) however that’s where I see better. So, I’ll give this a try. Thank you. 👍

Putting a hydrophobic coating will actually make fogging worse, not better. This is why you should never wax the inside of your car's windshield. If for some reason you still want to do this, use actual car wax. It'll last much longer.
