Sad to hear about the RX7. I also heard from Rob Dahm that Mazda basically doubled the price for spare rotaries. If you can, I would say maybe finish the rotary build but keep the power conservative so that you don't break anything for as long as possible, then when it finally dies, LS3 or coyote swap it if a new motor ends up being out of your price range. But man it would be such a shame to not build it the way you wanted to after all your hard work... I almost wish you had a patreon or something bro so that the people that want to go that extra step to support you could do so. Your channel with thrive if you can build cars the way you want to! Rooting for you man.

Appreciate the support my man's 🙏🔥 I've debating running the rotary until it dies, but I'm at such a toss up. I could get around $6,500 for this 13B the way it is now vs if it was a blown motor maybe getting $3000. Mazda price increase was absolutely wild to just double the cost of things 💀 I'll sit on it fit a little while and debate it a bit more but kinda want the 7 to be something I can just jump in and enjoy 😅

Take an old dish sponge and work a bunch anti-seize into it and cut it down to a 2inx2in square so you can leave it in like an old Altoids tin.... that way you can just open it, and roll the threads in the sponge and gets perfect anit-seize coat without the mess.

I’d love to see you keep the FD a rotary and not swap it. Guessing the rotary will be a big learning curve for you. The resale value will always be there. See it as an investment. Even if u hang onto it for a couple of years due to parts being more expensive the value of a clean and running example will be highly sort after. Love the content as always. 🤟

Good start for the hawkeye. Don't change the recipe too much. As far as the rx goes, please don't abandon the rotary, if possible. It would be sad to see all your work be for nothing more than the last failed swap when you saved her. She deserves better... just saying.

Keep the 13b! Unless the REW varies wildly from the MSP in the Rx8 in a way that I dont know about, you'll get way more than 30k miles on it as long as you stay on top of preventative maintenance. And the rotary is really the soul of the car. They drive like nothing else. You have put way too much work into it to LS swap it!

The failures aren't as common with the REWs as the Rx8 13Bs. Do your premixing, run 10w40 minimum, drive it like you stole it (to prevent carbon buildup) and as long as your rebuild is solid you'll probably run 100k miles with it.

Man glad you caught the issue in blue sti with driving her around. The rx7 do whatever you want the oem + build is amazing but if can make some $ do it. when using the anti seize you can reduce the torque 25 to 30% to get the same clamping force.

If you LS swap the Rx, you should take pro charge it. You get the turbo look with the super charger instant power and torque! And you'd obviously just be just that much cooler. And if you can pull it off, go dusk pro charger. I know it's not cheap but who's knows you could find a great deal really. Best of luck and yes I think you should swap even though I'm a Ford guy mostly. But that check will not be a waste of money like the Dorito beater.

For the RX7, I would say do something other than LS. Theres a ton of LS swapped rx7s, something unique like a barra (ik thats going to be as much as the rotary but just as an example)

Honestly for the rx7, keep it a rotary until it goes. Youve already done the work, have the parts, and hyped us all up for it, so may as well stick with it, and when it goes then swap it. Also if i may suggest, yes ls swap is cheap easy power, BUT you could keep it japanese and 1jz or 2jz swap it as well, just saying. Ride quality would be a bit stiffer but it gives you more adjustability, lower center of gravity, stiffer chassis feeling and a bit more response

I buy them all blown up so i can picke them up for cheap. When it comes to rebuilds RSD helps a bit but I also rebuild a lot of blown up cars for other people to help pay for things
