For covering connectors and such when cleaning I like to use sandwich bags that I tape on with electrical tape. That way less risk of tape just falling off with the degreaser stage.

All the wonderful GD content! Yeah, it's sad to see Mazda trying to destroy the rotary scene with price gouging. There's no way their costs doubled to produce those parts. And who knows, maybe Rob Dahm and others will have some really nice aftermarket replacements out when your rotary needs it's next rebuild. It'll hopefully be a while! If not, there are so many options for swaps!

We need to get Rob Dahm to collab with you to show you the ins and outs of the rotary. As far as I understand rotaries are in a similar boat as the EJs when it comes to a bunch of misinformation surrounding them and their reliability. I'm sure you already know about changing the oil setup and using pre mix. And I remember Rob Dahm saying that NA rotaries especially shine and run for a long time. Obviously we can't have that tho cuz we NEED da BOOST! Lmfao. If you can get in contact with him though I'm sure he'd give you a complete run down! That'd be sick! Maybe make a video with him on correcting a lot of misinformation like how you & Matt did for Subarus! Sorry if I said anything wrong as well btw. Great video as always man!

Honestly I'm excited that the dorito has to go, yes it sucks all the money you put into it, but if you sell the engine set up you will be able to do a LS with massive power and reliability with amount of money the rotary engine is now worth. i have a veloster n, itll shoot flames on a stock tune with a catless dp. for the 3 door thing idk the driver side doors longer so its easier to get in, and if the passengers side back door is because they didnt want to go full coupe. Anyways insurance thinks its a sedan because its a 4 door (hatch) so my insurance is super cheap

I have a 2018 Kia Stinger GT with launch control. It’s certainly not the same as when I had my Access-port with my 2018 WRX. The Stingers RPM is a lot lower. Like 2100 RPM.

hi tanner i need ur opinion. have a 14 wrx hatch was doin timing and i took off the oil pump to red loctite but never packed it. i flood mode cranked it twice for like 5 seconds but aem guage oil psi was still 0. said f it and started it up and went to the usual 100 psi. driving fine ever since do i hv anything to worry abt?

It takes a good 30-45 sec to build pressure sometimes. If thr battery is low and it's spinning over slowly it won't build pressure either. But in your case, nothing to stress 🫡

Late question, but at 3:10 do you let the black gasket maker that you applied on the oil pump cure for the full recommended 24 hours once it’s on the block? Or can you prime the system for oil pressure a couple hours before the 24 hour mark?

Hey Tanner, I’m rebuilding an 07 STI as Well. Bearing failure. How do you clean all oil lines and turbo from metal debris?

Turbos can eb a bit hard to clean, and normally, if it is significant bearing material found I replace the turbo. For the lines, I'll use a few cans of brake clean to spray through the oil lines

If you could get this build all done then put miles on this car, I mean enough miles to prove Subarus can be taken care of and not just blow up. That would make for a great video. Maybe "25k miles on a 2018 sti ra block" you could send the oil in to be tested to check the motor's condition check spark plugs compression etc.. The whole process proving the motors aren't crap. I think that would be a great little time lapse idea.

On the Veloster you need activate the launch control in the N menu then really press the brake hard and fast, then stab the accelerator to the floor. You guys never activated launch control properly.

We hit active on the menu to turn it on 😅 it told us it was active for 5 min lol

@@Smeedia yeah if you had it active on the menu you just need to stand on the brake pedal abnormally hard then and quickly stab the accelerator to the floor. It feels weird but if you do it right it will hit your set rev limit and it will show it between the gauges you can then Change the rev limit on the fly with the buttons on the wheel. Release brake and go. I think the hard brake pressure is the trick. Anyway love your vids man keep up the good work!!
