It really felt like a mix of It Follows and The Ring in all the good ways. It’s dangerous nowadays to make a movie about mental health, but I really felt like this was well crafted. I love my horror movies and I want more like this in the future!

Watching this in theaters was definitely an experience for me. No lie the scene where the sister steps towards rose’s car, after her neck snaps the whole movie screen went pitch black. All you hear is screaming, cursing and me yelling I’m going to 💩 myself to a crowd of people.

This movie was actually pretty good. Definitely exceeded my expectations. But there’s something I think could have made the movie better. The monster moves on from person to person due to trauma, right? And remember what Roses sister said about the dead cat at her sons birthday? She said the dead cat “completely traumatized him.” So what I think they could have done is have this entity move onto the kid, but rose doesn’t know it. So she’s still trying to stop this entity, and just when she thinks she figured out how to beat it, by locking herself in her old abandoned house, the entity shows up one more time to torment her, like how it originally did, but instead of killing her it reveals that he has moved on to roses nephew. And rose will remember what her sister said about the cat traumatizing him, and the movie will end with the kid seeing the entity down the hallway, or in his closet or something. I think that would be a good twist and a decent ending.

Franchises, especially horror ones, tend to fall apart when they don't stay consistent with their own internal logic. If the kid didn't witness her death, the curse shouldn't have passed to him just to subvert expectations. For it to jump to him just for the sake of the twist, it would feel cheap. That being said, I definitely don't think that "completely traumatized" line was just some throwaway dialogue either... I think they're already laying the groundwork to bring him back in a sequel because remember, most of the victims had a _history_ of trauma before they were cursed, and I think it's implied that this is how and WHY they end up being the ones who the curse gets passed to. Rose obviously had her trauma with her mother, and the painter's wife said that he had a relative who died when he was young too and the demon took their appearance once to taunt him. Others in the "chain" had careers that involved being around death and trauma a lot, i.e. the detective and the nurse.

This was by far the most scared I've ever been watching a movie. I legit had to take an hour break because this movie was triggering my anxiety to the max. But overall, this movie is incredible. The visuals in this film will forever be burned (no pun intended) into my mind. 😈

This movie shows how to do jumpscares perfectly. Literally amazing. So many movies use them so cliche like and this movie gives perfect buildup to them and then just the perfect random jumps to scenes and youre like “how to did that get me”. I never get jumpscared, so easy for me to figure em out, but holy shit this movie made me question every second when there was gonna be one

Fun fact I remember watching a similar film years ago (demon jumping from body to body) and needing someone nearby the person in that tried the same thing going off to a cabin in the woods to die and take it with them. Only for it to jump into a cat that was in its radius. Also having seen this in cinemas I was waiting for you to realize what the cat really was when making jokes about it.

I loved this movie so much and it gave me the chills all through the movie when watching it in the theaters. The jump scare that got me the most was the one where she's listening to the audio file and the thing comes from the side yelling her name just cause it's so loud and slightly unexpected as well,she kept going back to listen to it again because she heard someone saying her name everytime she played it back so dk why you couldn't hear that but any way. The cat scene was expected but still made me almost cry cause I have cates of my own just like you do and I hate when they kill the animal off in a movie like this. The actress of Rose is Kevin Bacon's real life daughter which is interesting and this is the director's first feature film which is also very cool as well.
