Here are 5 mistakes I've seen and personally made at dental school interviews. Hopefully these prevent you from making the same mistakes and better prepares you for your special day!

Yeah... You know, it didn't even feel like that many years passed! I loved where I worked and although distractions came often, supportive friends and family knew why I couldn't make it out to gatherings, etc. :)

Hey Michael I have my dental school interview at WesternU Dental School coming up and I just wanted to ask do you recommend a suit and tie for the tour, or will business casual do? I've been reading possible interview questions on SDN, but anything you were asked would help tons! Congrats again!

Hello Patrick! Glad to hear you're interviewing at WesternU! I ended up wearing a suit and bowtie the first day for the tour and that seemed to please the faculty members. I also saw some of my classmates wore business casual that day so really anything would do as long as it's not casual wear. The questions listed on SDN helped me prepare for my interview and gave me a good idea of what they would ask. Please let me know if you have any more questions! :)

Hello Micheal! I know you posted this video a while ago but I just stumbled upon it. You said in the beginning that you entered into Dental School 5 years after your undergrad. What did you do in between? I am planning to take a 2 year break after my undergrad to pursue a different passion before applying to Dentistry. Do I need to go back and take courses at some post bach program before applying?

Hello and thank you for stopping by! This is correct! I took a 5 year, unplanned, gap period between undergrad and dental school! I worked at various dental clinics and also worked for the UW School of Dentistry as an assistant for 1.5 years before pursuing a masters. The only reason why I took a masters was to increase my GPA and not to retake any courses. For that matter, the only reason you may need to take a course is because of an unfilled pre-requisite. As long as you graduate with all of the pre-requisites and your science GPA is solid, I'm sure you will be okay!

Clean cut is always the safer option. HOWEVER, if it's professional looking, keep it :) My roommate and a lot of other classmates had a beard/ mustache during their interviews.
