Your particular harp is wonderful, Carolyn!.....And in its sound there is something heavenly, that reachs immediately the soul!.....And who plays the harp, double strung or normal, is somebody that has got Heaven in his Being!... Happy to meet you here, Carolyn, and allow me to tell you that Heaven is on your serene face too!....A warm CIAO from an old italian musician in Rome !....

Thanks my friend! Do you play harp also?

On a fully levered harp, if it is tuned in C when all the levers are down, then lift the B's and E's for Disney Tuning. Basically any key you are in, lift the 3rd and 7th note 🌸

Oh, love the Aladdin tuning. LOL. But if I didn't have levers I could just tune it to that too.

Clarify the Aladdin tuning - is that if the harp is in C - add D and F levers?

Which is more important: to have the F at the bottom, or the G at the top?
@Smilingharp2 жыл бұрын
There are LOTS of differences between the 2 harps, such as sustain, string tension, clarity, etc. Even the age of the listener makes a difference in the way they sound, due to age related hearing loss starting in the higher frequencies. I will send you a PDF I made explaining in detail. You can email me at smilingharp@gmail.com. Happy harping! Carolyn

What do you think of the Loralea which goes from F to F? You get a lower note.
@Smilingharp2 жыл бұрын
Way more differences than that. I can send you detailed info via email - smilingharp@gmail.com

How do you decide between a walnut or cherry?? Lol I want both! Can you do a video featuring both at the same time… it’s hard when there is not a shop anywhere nearby to try.
@Smilingharp6 жыл бұрын
I can send you Mp3's of both, which is a great way to compare. Email me at smilingharp@gmail.com. I have a cherry Lorraine that has just been completed, that is unusual to not need to wait! It will probably go pretty fast. I may have a walnut too, not yet levered. I have to check on that. email me! smilingharp@gmail.com Happy harping, Carolyn

Can these harps be purchased tuned to 440?
@wholovesyababy5574 Жыл бұрын
Did you say that, in C, you raised the Bs and the Es for the Disney tuning? I'm confused. So you have two Cs and two Fs?
@jihad12516 ай бұрын
Yes, so there will only be 5 notes in the scale (repeats aren’t counted) C, D, F, G, A, then C again
@organist19825 ай бұрын
Yes, that's correct, in essence. Technically, you get the scale of F, G, A, B#, C, D, E#, F, in which the B# and E# are enharmonics of C and F, respectively. Doing that gets rid of all the half-steps which gives that "Disney gliss" sound!

Is the double-strung harp *tuned* at 440 (like I would tune a single-strung harp)? I assume it is, but with the double row of strings, and the tension on the soundboard, I was just wondering if it is tuned to the same? Thank you.

My harp teacher told me to tune my harp to an E flat major scale. Is that what you’re doing?
@Smilingharp4 жыл бұрын
I used to do that with single strung harps. Since the Lorraine ends on a G, I tune the harp in C and play in that and the sharp keys. I like to have as many open strings as possible. And there are so many things you can do with double strung, you don't have to have as much key variety as with single. However I know several Lorraine owners who tune in Eb major.
