Fun fact: Arthur's auto attacks move him forward so you can use this to edge yourself for a quick dodge/side step. This also works during things like Nox's combo, its possible to edge yourself out of the silence.

The problem with the defense comparison is that not only the base stats matter. Tyr and amaterasu and almost all other warriors in the game might havr the same base stats but they ALSO have defense or mitigation on their abilities. Tyr for example gets FIFTY free def in defense form from his 3

@@andyfox4484 ama gets 15% mitigation during mirror charge up, thats it. arthur gets 6% for 15 sec's after landing 4 abilties, but has much more mobility. also fun fact, if you ever face them both, they are incredibly hard to deal with together, noone seems to have realised their synergy yet, give it a go.

What's truly horrifying is the sheer amount of griefing coming from my own teammates, simply for PICKING Arthur. 3 out of every 4 games I've played for the last 3 days has been nothing but a verbal nightmare coming from teammates, before the match has even begun. "You're gonna feed." "Great, another Arthur wannabe." "Another noob, smh." It's infuriating, since our early match suffers because of teammates acting this was towards their own team. Hilariously, I end the match either carrying damage and/or kills, I tank effectively, pressure properly, and cycle through camps without a hitch, and I'm either met with praise or "you're OK," and reset for another hate-ridden game. I get he's a new god. I get he has a higher skill cap, something newer players struggle using, but c'mon. The actual fuck, y'all?

@@papaciervo5180 What I find to be even more frustrating is how easy it is to snipe kills from Arthur. Given the huge delay between dropping an ability and a basic, it sets you up for Kuku typhoon ticks or poison/bleeds/burns/literally any DoT to snipe your kill, for a teammate who didn't at all contribute to said kill or teamfight. I JUST played with a Morrigan who would sit behind tower, we'd initiate, and she's stay invisible until she could poke a low health enemy for the kill. Wouldn't assist at all up to that point. Basically just kill sniped, and then flamed everyone for "being garbage" and "should uninstall." Keep in mind, this is a teammate, hurting their own team, instead of assisting towards the goal of... winning?

Yes. Most of my matches when playing Arthur are lost at the loading screen because of salty teammates who immediately get mad just for seeing Arthur on their team. I had a Ymir and a Discordia on my team who if I was fighting more than one enemy would run up like they were coming to help me then use the laugh emote watch me lose the 2 or 3v1 that we could have easily won then send me a message telling me how bad I am and that I need to quit being an Arthur noob and wasting everyone's time, even though I would have the highest or second highest damage and kills on the team.

That's what's frustrating. I have to even been playing him in conquest but everytime someone tries him in jungle the others will instantly rage. Had a kuku yesterday just quit while he was still 2-1 because of Arthur as jungle which threw the game for us. Yes he's not great early I don't seem to understand how this is a hard to grasp concept for people lol. Plus he isn't auto locked nearly as much as other new releases like baron

I'm maining him but my problem is that my bad teammates that feed the enemy jungler and make my lane harder than it was. My personal opinion is that I have very good games where I dominate because the team is doing fine then there are others where the whole enemy team just go after me 😑 with my team not noticing

My biggist gripe with Arthur is that his ultimate can cause characters to be be desynced with their attack animations. I was transforming as cuculian in the solo lane and got ulted and my characters basic attack and skill animations would happen twice as fast, but still hit at the correct times it made the rest of the conquest match a huge pain

My one big problem with Arthur is if you get stunned or silenced during a cast animation is that you're switched stances even though its normally not even put on cooldown, I know that I just need to get used to it but it feels weird that he switches stances without actually casting it and putting it on cooldown

All of what you said so far into the video is common sense (didn’t even make it halfway) he is garbage at jungle, I don’t play him jungle but whoever plays him gets smacked, especially when i play Arthur. Any dash ability is good to do a basic attacking and cast in the middle of the dash, also always start with teleport, health chalice, 4 multi pots and round shield into gladiators UNLESS you are facing magical or aren’t sure if you are fighting someone with magical damage. In that situation i find warriors blessing is a awesome substitute, especially if the enemy jungle remains physical damage or whatever. He is good through the whole match, and if you’re actually good you can get that firstblood at level 2.

I've played a ton of solo with him, and have one a lot of games. I can see where people can get the impression of him being underpowered, but after playing around with him its all about playing around and understanding the abilities. Great video explaining him!

I played a game as Arthur yesterday where my energy did not reset using my combo ult and I was able to do it every 20 seconds. Even when I died, I still had the combo ult active and could use it even with energy at 0. But then using the combo ult or any skill, including a basic attack, reset the ult back to the normal version.

He’s good with Mystical mail in solo for a fairly simple reason 1) Solo doesn’t rotate in the current meta, so with the sheer amount of movement he has, you can delay getting boots to your 3rd item, and it makes him crazy damaging in mishaps cause people just cannot get away from the damage. It’s definitely situational, I would never build it when I’m behind, probably not even when I’m even. Would never build if I’m against a mage cause it comes on just too late.

He's new and difficult to learn (compared to other gods), and very different. He's also the most fun god we've had in a long time (obviously my opinion), because no one knows how to play him he feels rewarding. Eventually though I fear the community's complaints might sway Hi-Rez (or Titan Forge or whatever we're calling them) and he'll be easier to play and more easy to feel rewarding when played. Now that might be a good thing, but I feel like we need more high skillcap/high reward characters like this, where the lower end of the skillcap is still high respective to other gods. All in all, I just hope they don't buff him. Not much anyways, not like a typical post-launch rework

Now you might say well that the same as with all games. Like football etc. But even the very best are placed out of the b team and placed in the A team.. they dont all play together. I play every day at least 3 matches a day. Of those, I'd say at least one has Arthur. Since the launch here on PS4 I haven't seen one player play Arthur successfully, including myself. Matter of fact, the most memorable match I had against him for now was one in which I played Achilles and was bullying him

Alright, I'd like to start an actual discussion about this, was playing today for a few hours and thought to start some data gathering based on my experiences. I'm using Conquest, Joust and clash as the game modes since the play styles and builds are drastically different, however one thing remains constant, King Arthur. Now I've played as him a few times and I still feel he remains a bit lack-luster, but this data I got isn't me playing as him, but rather playing against him, and while I agree that he is interesting, he simply isn't able to respond to taking damage very well at all, I'm not sure of the skill level needed to play him, but when I'm hitting Arthur for all his HP while he's bladestorming only using 1 ability and auto attacks while we're both the same level, or shutting down any real momentum he gets, I feel there is an issue. Now I'll admit I've seen him shine and be defended, but only as mostly from and by Jungle roles, in fact I can say I've seen 0 Solo lane Arthur's in the past 2 and 1/2 weeks and I do play everyday, and on the rarity that I do see an Arthur player, from Mastery 1 to 10, I usually have no problem stopping them from really being able to do anything. He's a Warrior that does all this damage, but one can forget, that isn't the purpose of a Warrior, Warrior's are the gap between tanks and damage, all Warrior's that we've seen do extremely well have amazing sustain through the ability to heal themselves or have access to high damage mitigation or defense, the best usually have both or at least a kit that supports high defense through alternate means, in this case I'm not biased, I gave Erlang Shen hell until Berserker's Shield came out and resolved his minor weakness. So while I support King Arthur and love his kit I simply don't see Arthur like I do Cu Chulainn, who's rewarded for being aggressive by becoming a high damage dealing juggernaut that can deal out some damage and just melt enemies(he doesn't even have mana which supports this playstyle), but rather as an Assassin that's trying to be a Warrior, no hate on the character, Arthur's great, but please don't try to defend him by stating that he's a different Warrior unless you can directly point out to me why 98% of the role does what he can't do, and what he can do is done better by other gods by a large margin

Ymir Titan forge Ymir skin is broken this patch. I Ult and that explosion sound and fx doesn't play, plus the targeter on enemy screens is wrong (friend took screenshots in a jungle practice, the ult circle looked way bigger than it is and Ymir wasn't even in the middle. Also some bugs with Fenrir animations but that might've been triggered by Skadi, I'm unsure.

This is just from my limited experience (12ish games) but Arthur is an animal in the solo lane. I’ve only been shut down completely once because their jungler baby sat the lane. I’m always top mitigating and most of the time top damage also (full tank build).

I forgot to mention that true damage is affected by Rangda’s mask. You can 1 shot people with your ult if you get it, but you will be very vulnerable to damage since most of his abilities have long animations.

Yesterday i found a bug, if you are in 2nd ult as Arthur you can get pulled by ares ult and you can fight normally, but your ult won't stop till its full casted :D

To those that want to play as King Arthur, but haven't mastered it: there's a vs A.I. battle option. That way, you can actually try out his skills and see what's best for you. And try not to copy too much from other KA players, since I'm pretty sure that each player has their own play style. What suits for them, may not for you. So, new god = practise, practise, practise.

Duke, do you think Genji's guard is a good alternative to breastplate against a heavy magical comp with Arthur? In theory, this item should work well on him as it provides great CDR with its passive and has health instead of mana, and Arthur doesn't have a problem with that since gladiator is core on him.

His energy reset upon death should at leadt work like Zhong passive where you lose only half. Late game it is incredibly hard to stack up energy when it is required to be grouped up. It can be also a case in mid game. Death on Arthur feels more punishable than death on any other god due to energy meter. Especially when you had a lot of it and died maybe due to enemy cc chaining you where you couldnt even use ult. TLDR, full energy reset bad, make it work like Zhong's passive

I disagree with the mystic mail part so much. Honestly the aoe damage is only a bonus. The health and crowd control reduction are what makes it a beast on King Arthur. More health means more healing from gladiators shield. Pair it with blackthorn hammer for a truly beefy King. More beef means more time for mystic to burn which is just free damage that starts to seriously have an impact in prolonged fights. Beefy, mobile, cc Reduction, and tons of aoe damage. King Arthur decrees that squishies are not allowed in this area particularly. King of zoning.

I was doing bad with him either barely breaking even or negative until I started stacking all the health and protections I could to get the most out of glad shield, then started having games where I was 10-0, 8-2, and 9-4. While having respectable damage numbers. Also I really like talisman on energy on him I feel like the extra movement speed really compliments his kit.

Good description, I like King Arthur. However one item you have missed that really bugs me about him: Killing wards is far too inconvenient. Since he doesn`t targetlock on wards you either run past the ward and not hit it or have to stand at an awkward distance to hit with 2 auto's (the second doesn`t make you lunge) and have to walk backward for the third auto. It's a small thing but it annoys me since killing wards is important, it's usually the whole reason you buy sentries, and time restricted since most enemies will try to defend their ward if they can. I had a hard time finding a proper build for him so I'll give yours an attempt and perhaps I'l be able to play him better soon, ty for the content!

I like to invest 2 points into my 3 early on. His 3 is a lot like Daji 2. It has really bad damage with 1 point invested, and get’s a huge spike with 2 points. 1 point in his 3 gives 80 base damage total, 2 points gives 230 base. His power scaling is also insanely high 380% if you hit every ability (although that is unrealistic).

Dont listen to people who say he's weak mostly on Facebook and Reddit they have no idea how to laning phase, what items to get, about ability rotations or what they are talking about. I tried soul eater + glad shield a lot of fun and you can sustain from 1 hp to full hp in almost one combo of abilities.

The biggest problems I’ve seen with Arthur (and in my personal experience it’s the same) are as follows: 1. He gets focused super hard in 90% of the games I’ve seen him in. I’m talking entire teams suddenly dropping whatever they are doing and throwing entire kits at him or reliably dropping 1-3 Ultimates on him as soon as he gets anywhere near a team fight. Makes it a bit hard to perform well when you’re constantly in a 1v3 or worse. When this happens early then you’re underlevelled and get targeted more whilst also feeding. 2. The consistent lag spikes on Smite servers as bad enough as it is. The fact that there is such horrible lag/so many bugs with his abilities and auto attacks can make him borderline unplayable at times and is constantly resulting in missed abilities, wasted mana and being out of position. . Hi-Rez needs to stop trying so hard to pump out new content via patches as fast as they can so they have more excuses to make more money. Instead they should be focusing on on bringing out more polished, quality patches and new content that’s actually had thorough play testing and all the bugs worked out of it. This is he most disappointing patch/new content release I’ve seen since I’ve been playing. Which is a shame because otherwise Arthur would be really fun to play.

Alot of people have problems with him that they just need to learn how to deal with and he is a fantastic god to play. I had problems for the first few games but after i figured out where all his damage comes from i have been doing so well and wining every match up in solo lane, even against all the lane bullies like baron and such. I think the only problem is just his auto basic attack. That's it. Other then that, only had one game crashed, and from time to time, my bros lagged when I used him. Or, just bad plays, bad positioning, and/or bad picks for gods from random teammates. But getting ideas and did plan on the hammer and crusher. Other then that, lobe using him. Love the video, Duke. Let me start by saying I primarily play arena and Joust and I started king Arthur about 3 days ago, and I hated him. Once I played enough games to get to Mastery 10 (In 2 days) and I do think he is weak in that he is forced out of a lot builds do to some restrictions. My 1 advise to find a build for you is start with a full damage resist or health build with Glat shield in arena or joust. Play a few games and slowly replace his tank items for either hybrid items or damage items till you find the point you can't go further. If anyone wants to know my build I will probably post it later but feel free to ask anything if you want. Not a pro player or a major conquest player but I can still give a few fighting tips for conquest

I disagree I think mystical on Arthur is pretty good considering you want to sit and bully as much as possible with him. You're a warrior. He has burst but combo that with other hybrid items and youll be the tanky and offensive early game... also early mystical helps with lane clear by a lot.. Keep in mind I'm not playing conquest no idea what hes like there but other game modes I do fine with him.

Oh dear, if ulting dragon Faf makes the game crash, then it is more than likely that ulting a Morrigan that transformed into dragon Faf will do the same as well. That will definitely need a hotfix. First two times I played him no one was following up on my initiations even though I'm the only "tank" on the team. Both of those ended terribly though I was able to do well with him on my fourth try.

Players who actually get to play him and figure him out: Doesn't spam VGS when killed but learns from the death and figured his kit out within second coming up with ideas for builds and actually knows how to play the game. Called arthur out in the beginning and actually got him. Never speaks in chat unless it's to gank or tell someone useful information. HALF of the Community in a nut shell: "Needs buff. Burst too low, Health too low, Defenses too low." Dukesloth the one actual smite youtube other than a few others i watch plays arthur.: Gives actual information on how you can play him and help people figure out that god better." Me in a nut shell watching dukesloth: Wants to throw money at the man for his great work but broke as fuck. Nuff said lol. Edit: Btw i was one of the people complaining about him not being able to tank very well and said he needed a slight buff but watching duke play him and a few others is making me want to continue testing him till i find the build i'd prefer on him. I've actually think I found a build I like with him (I don't play conquest fyi) I typically build hide of the urchin(hp mana) transcendance(high power c/d), ninja tabi (has mana means Trans Gets more power plus extra energy gain)soul eater(extra mana which means more power and c/d plus a little sustain breastplate(tops off your cdr) and oni hunter for the Xtra mitigation, would love your thoughts on the build

Damn Hi-Rez more concerned with pumping out new content to make more money rather than ensuring their finished product is.... well..... finished.

Just played against King Arthur earlier the day and he actually destroyed my God entirely. Well, he didn't beat me in a fight but he destroyed Athenas Animations, speeding them up by probably 80% with the 2nd ult he hit me with and making her unable to walk straight as the whole model was tilted with another ult later in the game. ^^

Been using the blue ult more honestly. Before yall come at me no not cause DM said so because the last ult only works as Duke said if a teammate follows up. I kinda wish it had more scaling or dmg or something to it

I’ve played him a couple times, and I’ve found that he initiates to hard. His mobility and burst are good, but he has to throw to much of himself in in a team fight to be effective, and as duke said, buying defensive items for survival isn’t that great either.

Yeah sometimes I have a problem with the Arthur on our team but the worst one was probably in arena where this one guy kept yelling at the rest of us to go in with him like when he would just attack basically but like none of us went because it's really dumb, Why would we just charge in without a good plan?

Dude I swear there's something about his squishiness. I thought about it every time I played him and you saying it's a common complaint is a weird coincidence. I don't just 5 man dive, but every time I've played him, with with tank boots and defense items in the beginning, I've felt squishy as fuck. In clash I almost died trying to get blue at lvl 9. Had 40% of my hp left and had to back after trying to solo blue.... And then in teamfights I just find myself absolutely destroyed extremely quickly and having to retreat. Never felt so squishy as a warrior (FULL defense) except as Cu Chu in one arena game for some reason.

He might be good in conquest in solo lane but in arena, it’s different. Because Arthur is supposed to be aggressive to build up energy and you’re not going against one god. You’re going against a team. It makes it worse if you’re the only melee god. I died tons of time because I’m the only melee god. And I had to build my energy again. Titian Forge should have his passive passively build energy or can build energy by damaging minions with abilities. Maybe not have his energy refreshed when killed

Love using him. He's pretty complicated god if you have these problems. Just depends on how you use him and how the team sets up for team fights and jungles.

@@omargonzo5131 I use Warrior's Blessing, Warrior's Tabi for the opening play. That way, you have some decent sustain and moment. If I'm doing well with the team, it'll be after Warrior Tabi; Soul Eater and/or gladiator's shield for third and/or forth item build to help with your life steal abilities, cooldowns for burst abilities, and to stay in lane. Depends on if you are snow balling or need some defense. Then bulwark of hope or oni hunter's garb for either a fifth or this fifth slot could be for Breast Plate of Valor or Jotunn's Wrath. Depends if you're doing well and the team is doing good. This way, you'll have 40% cool down at this point and will be Bursty with your abilities with attack and pent. Or defense. Breast Plate of Valor, Jotunn's Wrath, or Crusher. Again, depends on how the game is going. Sixth is going to be Traveler's Clock for the defense and 10% percent cool down; or Hydra's Lament or Shifter's Shield. For the last one, sell your Warrio's Blessing and get Bloodforge or Traveler's Cloak for the power and shield when you get a kill or the last 10% cool down and defense.

So if you're doing good and the team is good, complete build I use is Warrio's Tabi, Soul Eater, Gladiator's Shield, Crusher, Jotunn's Wrath, and Bloodforge for the burst power. Burst Defense is going to be Warrior's Tabi or Ninja Tabi, Gladiator's Shield, Bulwark of Hope, Oni Hunter's Garb or Pestilence for this forth slot. Jotunn's Wrath or Breast Plate of Valor, Crusher or Hydra's Lament, Then Traveler's Cloak after you sell the Warrior's Blessing.

I have played arthur is solo a lot and hes pretty good maybe not the best but good and ive also played in jungle a lot and ive noticed some things (other than the buggy animations that make him a lot worse of a character) his character functions better and how it was probably designed in solo specifically his ult and the energy (also i was looking at console and saw arthur he is almost unplayable when you use any basic attack or ability the animation just doesnt happen or you teleport)

The only thing that's bad is his Basic. I nicknamed it the butter knife. But number 1 tip I always tell Arthur newbies when I destroy them. Don't go go with Warriors Tabi. Honestly I love Arthur got him to Diamond very fast and I only have trouble with 4 gods. Da Ji, Nox, Guan Yu, and Cern. Arthur is very good for tanking unless the enemh have alot of roots silence and slows combined with high damage outputs. The problem people have is they try to build him for damage and ruin his build since they don't realize his famage scales well and he should be built for survival. Since people habe the idea that he sucks its easy to combo gladiators shield and his 3.

If athena is charging her dash and you ult her, upon landing, for whatever reason all her animations are like 2-3x faster. I looks dumb af, and her abilities all function normally, but the animations are sped up

I couldnt agree more with this video. I keep arguing with all my friends that hes really good. I've almost exclusively been playing him, almost rank VI. His basics and your ability to make minor dodges with them is great. For leveling order I always just but an extra point in his 3 then max the 1 and throw in ult points when available. I've also experienced game crashes when an athena ults on my while I'm in a big ult and a nox being in me for a big ult. Glad you endorse him though so I can use it as an arguement. I hope they dont change him much except some clunkyness and maybe the ability to cancel his combo 3.

On ps4 conquest, he seems to somewhat consistently crash games whenever he kills someone with the ult. Seriously, it's happened 4 times to me already. 3 times ot was a teammate who killed someone with the ult and another it was the enemy Arthur. It's really annoying :(

Just saying guys if the enemy team isn’t building anti heal you can build him tanky with gladiators shield and soul eater he is insane. Other then that I find the best build to be a tank build :) especially considering that he has cc immunity in his kit
