The Sliotar is about the hardness of a baseball. with a leather casing. As far as injuries, its actually not that high, except minor ones like the occasional broken finger etc, as most people who play the sport, have done so since they were able to walk. In fact helmets didn't really become universal until the 1990s. You mentioned gloves, which reminded me about a show that aired on Irish Telly called the Toughest Trade, where they took Gaelic Footballer and Hurlers, and sent them off playing other sports, and having people from those sports come play gaelic football or hurling. Like sending off a hurler to Vancouver to learn how to play Ice Hockey with the Canucks, and one of their players coming to Ireland to learn how to hurl. Well in one episode they sent a hurler off to some Baseball club in the USA. He was very confused by the baseball gloves, and blew the American players minds when we was catching balls in the outfield with just his bare hand. Haven't checked yet, but if you haven't done it yet, you should check out the other major national sport of Ireland, Gaelic Football.

4:22 the rules have changed slightly since this video was made only the All-Ireland final is replayed and even that has extra time/overtime the rest of the games finish on the day with a penalty shootout after extra time

The way that guy is pronouncing the name of the ball, " sliotar" is incorrect. Phonetically, its more like "Slither". The ball is hard. Cork core wrapped in leather. Little bigger than a tennis ball.

Surely there shoyld be an asterisk when talking about the rules to say these dont apply to limerick😂😂
