His voice is a gift that he's universally shared. I was invited to meet Smokey years ago when he was visiting Motown headquearter on Broadway and 56th. I was getting a manicure on 56th between Bdwy & 8th. The Motown Execs came in often. One time, one of them sat next to me and we were drying our nails together. He asked me what type of music I like. I said Marvin Gary, "what's goin on" - timeless (this was just after 9/11) MJ, and of course Smokey. The exec said he's upstairs now do you want to meet him, they like that sort of thing, meeting their fans." Long story but I was given a dozen CD's, lot's of Stevie Wonder, and a moment to briefly say thank you to Smokey himself. A cherished memory. And yes his eyes are really green. 🌷
