Just got in an electric smoker. Used if for chicken, so far and will do a brisket this weekend. I've been told to put curing salts on the brisket right before putting it in the smoker to get a smoke ring. We will see.

My mouth was watering, the whole time. What grade of meat did you start with, Select, Choice, or Prime?
@TheSmokingBeard2 жыл бұрын
Select... but if done right (low and slow) it is almost as tender... not apple to apples but close enough for a backyard bbq

@@TheSmokingBeard Thanks for the reply. I can’t stand it anymore, I’m off to the store to get one, to make for this weekend! Thanks for the inspiration! 😃 👍

Looks like I'll look into using a smoker box and the smoker on this unit together . Didn't see much smoke ring

I'm trying to figure out a way to connect a small table top bbq pit to it and piping the smoke from there into the smoker. I'm not a fabricator, so I need to find someone who will do it for me.
@bigrig85393 жыл бұрын
you cant get a smoke ring on electric smokers. The only way I know is by using Morton's quick tender. There's probably a better way but that's how I do it
@TheSmokingBeard3 жыл бұрын
If you smoke it the 1st 4 hours on a regular pit and then put it in the electric smoker, it is possible. I agree with you that an electric smoker will not give you a true smoke ring.

I’m trying this method right now. I want it to work so I’m not refilling wood chips every hour. I’ve used it on a gas grill but not the master Built electric smoker. I’m trying it with bologna and then tomorrow or late tonight I’ll try it with a brisket if it goes well

FYI, probably need to get the pellet smoker off the bottom, onto the lowest rack. You'll get much better circulation through the pellets.

Same thing happen to me. I'm thinking it is due to the extra moister in the smoker. I've had to reignite every so often to keep it going. You might want to try placing it on the bottom grate. Hope that helps

So it is safe tobuse pellets in sn electric smoker. I had read that it could be a fire hazard ?? Great video, thanks
@TheSmokingBeard4 жыл бұрын
I have not had any issues with it being a fire hazard. On the contrary, I have needed to keep an eye on it because the pellets sometimes stop smoking due to not enough oxygen hitting them while inside. It works pretty good if you ask me.
@patrickdenney83044 жыл бұрын
Looks great man! Do you remember about how long the brisket had been in the smoker before you pulled it?
@TheSmokingBeard4 жыл бұрын
Usually about 14-16 hours if smoking at 220 degrees. Once the internal temp hits 185 - 195 it can be pulled out. After that, let it rest a couple of hours before slicing it.

how well did the amaz n pellet smoker work

It works pretty good. You have to keep an eye on it because it might go out on you. Allowing enough air flow is the key.

What are your thoughts on the A-MAZE-N smoker as opposed to the Masterbuilt cold smoker attachment? I have the cold smoker but I have not yet smoked anything beyond about 5 hours (havent had my smoker for long yet). If I have the cold smoker, would you still recommend the A-MAZE-N basket or would that be superfluous? It seems that neither is a true "set-it-and-forget-it option for a longer smoke such as this one. Thanks for your insightful videos!
@TheSmokingBeard4 жыл бұрын
If you have the cold smoker attachment, I would use that instead. The A-Maze-N pellet is good, you need to make sure it has air flow. If not, the fire will die out on you.

How many pounds was this brisket? I have a masterbuilt electric and I’m always scared the brisket will be to big for it
@TheSmokingBeard4 жыл бұрын
There are 2 sizes for the Masterbuilt Electric Smoker. I have the bigger one. It usually has the number 40 in the model. As far as size, I've smoked briskets up to 17 lbs with no problem. As a matter of fact, check out my other videos. I have a 5 brisket challenge video where I smoked about 80 lbs of brisket at the same time.

An electric one. I have been using masterbuilt, but it's not perfect. If you get a masterbuilt, check out my other videos for adjustments I've had to make to get it to smoke.
