Oh and with shrimp, I love the savory grits but for breakfast there is nothing like the sweet grits too. My family make oatmeal for breakfast, but once I had grits, I learned to make it myself. I am the grits queen. Only thing I do differently is I put the uncooked grits in a little of the water to soak while the water is heating up to boil. Then I pour it into the boiling water as a slurry so it doesn’t get lumpy when it first goes in. Then I tend it constantly until it’s cooked. Which means stirring it nonstop. One of my fav meals is shrimp and grits that I get at a New Orleans style bistro in town. I think your recipe looks even better than theirs. I’m totally trying this. Thank you!

What's good, AB?! I'm in Florida. One thing we do here is to use Gouda cheese in the grits, instead of cheddar (strictly for Shrimp and Grits!). It may sound weird to you, but I promise you that it is Amazing!! But, they are savory grits, not sweet. Go salt & pepper when you try the Gouda. Give it a try sometime. It will NOT disappoint you!

Oh, my gosh, Chef!! FINALLY someone who knows how to make a good roux! Once you cook the flour and butter for a few minutes, you turn the heat way DOWN or take off the heat to add the liquid!! Perfect lump free sauce every time! I learned that from my mother who learned it from a 50''s Betty Crocker cookbook. I see cooks stirring like mad when they add the liquid! Turning the heat way down is the key when adding your liquid and then bring heat back up. Your shrimp 'n grits looks so delicious!! Going to have to make it. Thanks for a GREAT video!

Add jalapenos. Only place around where I live that makes passable grits is a little Cajon place. There shrimp and grit are simply divine. They serve it with the sauce already mixed in. It does have jalapenos, but not enough. I always order with extra jalapenos. I eat my plain grits with butter and salt
