I haven't checked in to your channel in probably 4 years and wow your improvements are so noticeable. You've come a long way especially with production value! This painting is gorgeous and while some other comment said it's not as challenging as your past ones, I chose to watch it specifically because of how you were able to almost capture what looked like focal distance. The background is out of focus and the glow is just supreme... and then a beautiful, sharp tree as relief. Gorgeous!

I'm a photographer and photograph the Blue Ridge and Smokies frequently and this looks like the view from Cowee Mountain Overlook as viewed from the Blue Ridge Parkway - BEAUTIFUL! It's my favorite sunset spot, even though it's a little "over-photographed".

Kevin this is stunning...definitely looks like Smokey Mountains. My only issue is I don't paint with oils for many years. I have an abundance of arylic paint these days. Can you do a similar or same painting with acrylics. I would be so grateful!

I guess this kind of painting would work with acrylics, too, because he painted on a dry canvas and blended the paint quite fast. You'd need to use oil in case you use techniques that rely on paint still being wet. I suggest trying with acrylics. Let youself be surprised by the outcome. You might like it. :)

Golden makes Glazing mixing medium to keep your acrylics flowing like oil. They have quite a few types of additives for different things, but the Glazing medium will give you more of an oil painting work time, blendability, and appearance...yes, you CAN do this with acrylic.

Kevin, if possible, please do a video of this Smoky Mountain painting showing how you get the distant trees so detailed to be so far away. You did not show this ( edited out I guess ) in this video. I live in this area and tried to paint this and being a beginner at 70 years old I need to see this to make my painting look near as good as yours. Not the trees on the mountain tops but the trees just below the mtn. tops down please. Thank you Kevin.

Kevin I have purchased many of your tutorials including this one and they are great but I have one request. I know you like to show your palette when you mix colors, and that's cool but you always hold it up and block the painting which drives me crazy to the point I end up screaming at you through the tv. You have to understand that we are watching you and learning then painting so we are always behind you throughout the painting timing wise which means we are focusing on the painting then back to our canvas and making a brushstroke and BAM.. can't see cuz your holding your palette up right in the way. It wasn't so bad at first but now it breaks a piece of my soul every time that palette blocks the canvas. If you could just hold it a little to the side, it would save me from a full nervous breakdown! thanks

Generally I haven't commented on your paintings because it seems to me you are having great fun with color and most everything you paint is very fine. My only suggestion is that in your landscapes paintings there is no ' life'. No birds no small mammals no deer or moose's- no fish no bugs, just trees and shrubs. You are an excellent painter but not much of a draftsman. Your barns are put of kilter. Try some perspective drawings and take note of real barns. Otherwise I find your do very heartfelt wonder filled paintings. Just suggesting. Another artist...
