Cats have been kept outside for centuries and deal with much worse than a puma in much of their range. This one was just unlucky, most likely inexperienced. The majority of streetwise cats know how to avoid the hazards in their area, and generally are much healthier than a typical indoor cat, assuming they are fed, wormed and vaccinated. Most Indoor cats are constantly suffering from joint issues, obesity and behavioural problems, that are nowhere near as prevalent in outdoor cats. In fact indoor cats only became a thing with the increasing popularity of designer breeds like ragdolls in the last 50 years which are actual indoor cats not suited for outdoor living
@1faithchick7Ай бұрын
@theotheseaeagle That's a lot of cope. No, outdoor cats rarely live long anywhere preditors live. They rarely live 3 years. If you play with your cat and feed them properly they can live happy lives for 12 years inside. Outdoor cats don't get health problems because they die young.

Along the lines of what Frank Johnson points out below, I noticed a splice in this clip at 3:45. Noting the date and time stats that are displayed at the bottom of the screen, at 3:45 in this clip, the bottom right displays 05:33AM as the Bobcat walks off to the right. A split second later, literally half-of-a-second, which is also at 3:45, the bottom right instantly switches to 06:09AM where a cat appears. Splices in a clip degrade their authenticity.

The first thing I noticed on that "domestic" cat was the tag around its neck. Domestics, left outside, will go feral, so we don't really have all the facts on this specific kitty-kitty, but the message is still the same: If you're going to have a house cat, have a HOUSE cat. They're no different than any other invasive species when allowed to roam outdoors. Yeah, yeah, I understand the "farm cat" thing, they are great mousers, but they're also very hard on the songbirds, which are declining in numbers anyway, and they carry diseases that are bad for humans. Please, don't be afraid of anyone's feelings, pass this information on to anyone you know that let's their house cats run "naturally." They're invasive and do harm to the ecological balances. I have a neighbor who has been very outspoken on this topic. He and his son have told everyone within a 1/2 mile that if a cat is found on their property, it's not coming home. EVERY week, there's a post on a local media forum of people looking for their missing cats within a 10 sq.mi. area. It's ridiculous, the number of people that cannot properly care for a cat! "Living their best life" does not include allowing them to attempt blending into an unfamiliar, wild environment, where THEY are an invasive species.
