Hi mate I finally bit the bullet last week and bought a small van and all equipment needed thanks to your videos. Got enough savings to support me for a few months to see how things go. But I start advertising and leafleting this weekend van all set up. I’ve worked towards someone else’s dreams for many years and I’m now 35 with 3 children and finally it’s time to starts doing what I want instead of others !

You have lovely attitude and I’m sure you’ll do well with your business I’ve been pressure washing for about 12 years now, my business is called Mudmagnet. My advice for what it’s worth. No one will be as committed to your business as you, stick with it, employees will let you down and cost you money. Try and have a spare for all your equipment even a spare pressure washer, wouldn’t bother with a spare surface cleaner. We all know that as soon as you have cleaned a surface organic growth will return quickly I always apply a biocide when I have finished cleaning, This will provide residual protection against growth for months or even years, offer the customer the service of you returning annually to just to apply the Biocide as it should not need pressure washing again. Don’t let your business stress you out, I’m like you I think of my business all day and every day, I Ioved it, don’t forget you’re a long while dead, enjoy it. Good luck.

If you are happy with your setup then stick with it. Make sure you have spares of most things. If you are earning enough then don't expand as it will just add stress for a few more ££. As for when to spend it I would say if you can have 6 months wages in a savings account plus your tax money ready then treat yourself and your loved ones. Nice to hear about you starting up. Schools aren't geared up at all to do anything other than teach you to get a job!

Hi Jake. Just wanted to say I feel I'm in a very similar position to what you described. Into my 30s now, currently working as a pressure washer operative for a company. I really enjoy the work I do. And I can't help but have the desire to pursue working for myself. Watching your videos is helping me get an idea of what my life could be. I really appreciate your insight into the business. I really enjoy your videos. Keep up the great work.

I couldn't agree more about the education pathway funnelling people into university. Saddling 40% of school leavers with £45k of debt before they've even started work is insane! Starting your own business at a young age would teach 90% of university students infinately more than their equivalent time at university.

Good vid. I’m currently finishing my last two weeks Truck driving before I Move home. And start My own Business Exterior Cleaning. Thanks to yourself and other KZbinrs.. I’ve sorted my van and about to invest into the equipment I will need. I’m excited Nervous and scared but more excited to get going. I’ve also cleared all me loans and other finances so I have minimal overhead. Good vid also thanks for your input on the equipment I should be hopefully putting my first order into PWS next week.

Hello mate I am just the same I have always been entrepreneurial and hated working for someone else. I gave up working for people 20 years ago. I was struck down with a nasty vaccine reaction 6 months ago so now my house building had to stop. I am literally starting a jet washing business in the next couple of weeks. Do you recommend a good supplier for all the gear.

Floated around retail jobs for a while before landing as a welder. Government response to covid put an end to that as my industry supplied kitchens to take aways and restaurants, 2 years with no practice left me so rusty that I couldn't pass a weld test when they finally decided to let us work again ("I can see you know what you'll doing and you'll get back there quickly, but we need someone who can start immediately" are words I heard more than once) Done a bit of roadwork since then and I'm strongly considering either getting my lorry licenses or starting my own pressure washing company. Can't say your channel is the initial inspiration to do it, but it's proving a very valuable research tool and it's definitely helping swinging me towards that.

Hi I really liked your story about going from retail to owning your business. I’m in the exact same shoe, 10 years of retail with 5 years of management. It’s rubbish, not satisfying or motivating. As soon as I got into management I realised it’s all fake anyway. Fake leaders, cowboys. I can’t work with people like this. I’m about to get into the pressure washing. Watching tons of videos and gathering knowledge and of course buying my gear. I’m the most worried about the jobs. I’m completely on my own in this country and I know if I don’t have money coming in I just get anxious and fuck up things. Any advice there? How hard is to get jobs in this field around London? That’s the bit I have no clue of and is my biggest fear about getting out from my day to day job. For some people just an advice, if you not happy where you are just move and don’t make the same mistake I did, hoping it will change… it will never change unless you change it :) so I guess that’s the everyday advice for myself. According to the video, why don’t you pre treat the areas? Probably the surface cleaner work more efficiently…

Great video. Really interesting to hear your thoughts on business expansion versus living your life. If I may suggest an alternative proposition. Have you considered diversifying and investing profits into a buy to let property? This would provide resilience for when your business is slow. It provides inflation busting growth with an asset that can always be sold if/when you need to. I didn't buy my first btl property until I was in my 40's. By FAR, the best financial decision I ever made.

Your videos are always great and very informative. How long did you leave the hypo down and even tho its diluted, will it still not effect the grass? You asked about new buisnesses in the video. For months i have been watching videos and i subscribe to yours as you are honest and keep it simple for new guys and girls to learn. I started my own little business up in newcastle 3weeks ago, i quit the job i had as to ne honest i wasnt happy at all and had enough. Doing pressure washing is such a satisfying job, yes i havnt done many but the ones i have done im happy with and so are the customers. Having content like what you put out really helped me in finally making the decision to start up, im trying to keep it just to driveways, patios, graffiti removal and just today i got an extendable lance to hopefully do guttering. Sorry about the long comment. But keep up the awesome work and you are helping alot of us to get up and running. So thank you

Hi keep in mind suppliers want your money and they also complete against each other. You are there customer and they should look after you or shop else where. It's your hard earned money not there's? Ps on a helpful not use your old sand bags to take away your slug. Other tips pour some three and one oil down your gun or trigger I find is good practice.

I was exactly in the same position before. I found that being manager is not what makes me happy and salary was limited to what was written in contract (maybe some extra bonuses, but that's it). Career grow? I am already bored by office job, so that is not an option. So i started a window cleaning company and working for myself, and after 7 years i feel that it was my best decision. It's not about the salary, not about being in suit and ties, my hands sometimes are dirty, sweaty face and so on, but I AM HAPPY. My customers are happy, i feel being appreciated and honest smiles. I have freedom to take time off whenever a want, i have more time with my family. And probably most important - it is STRESS FREE job. I am stress free! I like Your videos and listening on Your thoughts! Keep going!

mate, some advice from someone who does the same. My winters are slow mostly because I want it that way as the rest of the year is flat out. Over the course of the spring/summer I keep back enough money to tied you over for 3 months. The rest I use for myself, family, business and upgrading equipment.

The boss is always the last to be paid! Have a “oh no it’s fecking broke fund” If you are good at what you are doing, do it well. Don’t be afraid to expand you can overthink these things and the fear of failure will kill the ambition!

I made the leap this year. Left a job that simply wasn't working. Registered, fully insured, Van/uniform personalised and ran the new Honda gsx390 for the first time. Yourself, along with several others I've followed over a year+ period helped me brave a step into the unknown. Starting something from scratch, reassuring family etc of why it's a positive move and not being swallowed by the initial workload. To manage myself, my time and the pride seeing a your logo on a shirt makes you surprisingly proud. Thank you for the insights.

100% with you there mate you never know at what stage you should start to enjoy your money because all it takes is for something to break, and you have a hefty bill. I think you are doing brilliantly for someone in their forat year of proper business. Keep it up and i am certain you will be hugely successful. Regarding upgrading your setup looks perfect for what you do and i would say sticl with it till you are forced to upgrade. And adding more things to your list could stretch you pretty thin, so keep doing what you're doing till you are somewhat comfortable and still e joying your work. Finalky better turbo nozzles are way better than the ebay specials. i learnt that lesson the haddway when one exploded and left me stuck at a job.
