➡️ • Orange Shirt Day SMUDG...
In this weeks new video, we created a smudging guide for beginners or anyone who wants to learn how to smudge. Smudging is simply the act of burning a bundle of sacred herbs or medicines that are intended to help you purify and redirect the energy of your space.
Burning these sacred medicines produces smoke that allows the healing benefits of the herb to enter our bodies and our home and this is the perfect guide for beginners. If you're new to smudging or a beginner to the smudge or smudging ritual, this will help you learn how to smudge with sage. Learn to smudge with sage in just 5 minutes with this beginner smudging guide we created. But always keep in mind that the smudge ceremony is sacred to the native people and the smudge must always be respected.
We hope that with the use of this simple guide, you can easily learn to smudge in just a few minutes. If you smudge with intention, you can reap the benefits of this sacred ceremony that has been used by indigenous people for so long as a way to maintain peace, balance, and positivity.

Once again thank you so much for your content! I use sage but Palo Santo as well. I have a couple smudge sticks that are white sage, cedar and lavender. The packaging says it was harvested sustainably by native Americans and that's always important to me. I do have a question for you Mallory, how does one come to be gifted an Eagle feather? I use a small fan I made consisting of 3 feathers, the largest being a wild turkey feather my little girl gifted me so it's special of course but I would love to be gifted an Eagle feather to add to my fan.

@@kittenleo28 Unless you’re Native American from a federally recognized tribe, you can’t legally own an eagle feather. The Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act prevent this. Native Americans must apply for their feather and there’s a waitlist, so it could take years for a Native American to receive their eagle feather.

I smudge multiple times a day. As a wilderness guide I do a small ceremony before I guide a group for protection and guidance from Mother Earth. I use sage and sweet grass along with tobacco for my smudging. This tradition has been handed down for generations in my family and I've had the opportunity to share it with others.

I have been told that i am an empath. I've felt something different with myself all my life. I'm over 60 years old now and have been gob smacked with the realization of what that actually means. (I found "one" book on it recently and feel like my world is turning upside down. I'm using this opportunity that YOU have provided to begin my journey into healing myself and trying to attain what is supposed to be rightfully mine. My wife bought me a smudge kit today as it is my birthday. I had a tough day at work with my managers who do not appreciate me and try to bully me. So I came home and smudged for the first time burning sage in a beautiful shell. I gave thanks to my spirit guides and guardian angel and asked them to rid me of all negative energies consuming me about work and my vindictive bosses. I have felt my positive energy and vibrations lift and I feel so tired…I hope this is normal! Thank you for your wonderful kind advice Mallory! Love and blessings to you 🙏🙏🙏

I will urge anyone to purchase your herbs and medicines from businesses ran and created by indigenous people, to ensure the quality of medicine and the growth of their business. non indigenous people are trying to capitalize on a sacred culture and it's wrong! I came here to ask about smudging with white sage and sweet grass being a closed practice. thank you for the video and response to another who asked the same. 💜 I know there is no right answer or at least not one that will satisfy everyone. I am new to smudging, and find it incredibly helpful in realigning my energy and mental space. I also heard that white sage and sweet grass are closed practices, so I use blue sage, rosemary and cedar. I appreciate the information provided, as I learn more I can adjust my practice accordingly to remain respectful of people and cultures to my best ability and adjust ongoing. I also keep it to personal use and do not make money or derive social benefits, only my own peace and balance. Thank you again for creating content that is educational and accessible. Making these things known makes it more possible to do less harm, ideally no harm, and identify areas where improvement can be made as a non indigenous person. I will continue to follow, learn and share this.

I was introduced to smudging when I was about 10 years old by a couple who lived with us back then, who was very spiritual (but more hindu/vedic oriented). Back then I build my own altar and did rituals. I learned to smudge the native american way from books and now from videos. Somehow I feel so connected to the indigenous peoples, in a very emotional way. I have always felt spiritually connected, I understand everything as if I have an inner knowledged triggered whenever I am in touch with indigenous topics or people. I will smudge today with sage and ask for blessings for the new year. May you and your relations be in harmony and may you experience great joy and happiness in your life.

My fiancee is as close to an educated expert as I can get. Here are some things she suggested: do NOT use a sacred feather if it isn't yours. Do NOT use metal because it oxidizes and releases carcinogens; abalone was found my The U of MN to also release carcinogens. Use your hand and a glass bowl. I'm not an expert, pretty ignorant about all this, but that's what I've learned from one that is very connected to the Ojibwe culture.

My husband and I just recently smudged our home because we felt something negative may have tried to pass thru. I had some sage but had never used it. So it was a first for both of us. We opened the front and back doors then we both walked thru each room of our house waving the smoke in every corner as we prayed aloud. It was a beautiful, uplifting and empowering experience. This video brought 2 things to my attention...to smudge myself first (what a loving thing to honor ourselves with that ceremony) and to let the sage naturally extinguish itself as a direct line to Spirit and letting Spirit do its job. Thank you for these videos! ❤

He offered to sell his Sage(he's moving). Instead I bought a pan ftom him, and asked him to gift me some Sage. He was quite happy to do so(good vibes). I'm from Puerto Rico, and my ancestors are the Tainos. I'm 65, all my life I felt a deep calling, which fell on deaf ears, regarding natural healing and nature. For the last few years, I've been looking at videos shared on KZbin about natural herbs, elixirs, tinctures, etc. But, over 10 years ago, I learned to meditate( for some who struggled with ADD it was hard) and I'm in a place of peace now. Grounded in God. I'm going to check out the kit here. However, I was wondering do I have to tie the Sage up with a certain kind of material in order to walk thru my home and smudge it? Also, I have 2 dogs, will this affect them? Thank You, God Bless You, 🙏

Oh wow that’s really neat and was probably meant to happen! Sage definitely has healing properties. Many have felt that calling but it’s never too late to begin a new journey! Glad to hear you’re feeling so grounded. You can break little pieces of the sage off and build a little pile to smudge, this way it stays lit longer and it gets more oxygen. I actually sage my dogs sometimes and they actually seem calmer after, lol. Good luck on your journey.

@Tribal Trade Co , oh yes most definitely meant to happen. Many times we think we're in charge and yet the outcome has not been what we ever expected. I took care of my mom, who was diagnosed w/Dementia, for 7 years. The last year was the hardest because she was completely out of it. No verbal communication, BUT I learned to listen for her spiritual response. It was intense to sat the least. Such a gift knowing how we are not limited by words. Before caring for mom,fir years I kept meeting people who were very ill and needed love and help. I stepped up, followed my heart and soul til their very end. I called them "assignments from God." Thank you for the heads up on how to make the Sage burn longer. I too shall smudge by dogs😊.

Boo shoo! Not native but raised in Northern Minnesota. I have never smudged and I ended 6:15 up with a smudging feather from a crystal shop. I think it was a hint! 😊 Then I go to the internet and here you are! I have been studying witchcraft and was surprised by the universal truth of gratitude, manifestation and intent. Miigwich for your wisdom and teachings in these videos!

Very interesting! In India, we do something similar in order to remove the ill effects of the evil eye. Usually a family elder, (always a female) does the needful, as and when required. The evil eye in Hindi, is referred to as, “buri nazar”.

I have smudged I was taught by Donna Mitichel “ Words in the Wind” who lived on native land in Westport Massachusetts. She has passed away but I have the smudge kit she gave to me. Sage a Quogog shell wrapped in deer skin, and Turkey feather fan. My andesters were of the make a Mac tribe nova Scotia Canada thought I was a very special person respected a professor at Brown University and speaker on indigenous people of New England. She taught me a lot and very short time president of the Fall River auto association in Massachusetts. I put together a art show that had Native American artifacts from our historic association and paintings created by the artists pertaining to the culture and Donna came. She was invited to come and she smudged the gallery during the opening and tortoises to do a circle dance and chanting. Drumming and smudging was a great experience. I have gone to some powwow and Donn friend rosanne is also a tribal member. Her name is red beer and she and Donn were very good friends. She is also my friend. She lives in Freetown Massachusetts and on a farm with her husband and his grandchildren and children and they harvest cranberries. They have cranberry bogs and she is an artist and does computer graphics, she’s an amazing person also. And I use blue bear. My grandfather was called bear and our family dates back to 1500s when they first came here and married into the Native American community so that is something very sacred to me in my grandmother who died at 102 used to tell a stories as kids about Native Americans family members that, she had pictures of, but when my grandmother passed away, my aunt cleaned out her room and threw all those pictures away because she didn’t know who they were really disappointed me, but her cousin did the family history and found out all this information, which was nice, but neither one of us have any pictures that I know ofancestors

Hi 😊, how often should you smudge please. The reason I have decided to learn smudging is I'm a 72 year old lady and I have lived a very negative life being bought up in a negative environment and people, and I am now trying to make changes with my self, (they say it's never too late ) 😊, I am a very spiritual person and a believer , hence wanting to learn smudging which I have never heard of until now, so thank you for sharing 👍🤗

I'm Metìs (Cree and French mixed) from northern Canada and grew up with traditional medicines. We have to go out to pick wild sage. We say prayers and offer tobacco to ask creator to pick the sage to use as a medicine as we believe tobacco was the first plant on earth and is held extremely sacred. Traditionally we use sweetgrass to "cleanse" your dwelling but we use sage because it is universal for men and women. Women aren't allowed to use sweetgrass when they are on their moon time aka your period because your too powerful spiritually. Elders taught me not to mess around with medicine as it can harm you. We smudge ourselves with the smoke to cleanse our spirit and pray before cleansing our homes as well.

You just let it stop burning when it stops but you can also just light one section of the end so the entire end isn't burning all at once. That may help. Also you can take little bits off the bundle and burn a small pile. I'm glad you're liking our videos. If you have any more questions please don't hesitate to ask!!

Do not forget to open windows in your room or home to allow the stale negative energies to return to the Earth and away from you, and to allow the positive energetic flow to come into the room or home from the earth.
