Amsterdam is a city, not a country. Dutch streetfood is an invention of/for vlogging tourists. Overpriced crap at Van Stapele and all those other instagram places with huge lines of tourists. Don't buy your stroopwafel in Kalverstraat, I beg of you

@@tiffandjake I ll get into that: 1) Avoid Amsterdam which is one huge tourist trap: Stroopwafel should be bought at a local market, not in shops: the dutch all eat them plain so no addings to it like chocolate.... Same with cheeses: local markets and I know nobody who eat cheeses with all kinds of flavours like lavender (On Amsterdam: Albert Cuypmarket is open daily except Mondays I believe) So want cheese: go to market ask for Boeren kaas (Farmers cheese) which are really made the old fashion way on farms.....Avoid cheeses from supermarkets!. Better than Amsterdam: visit Utrecht or Den Bosch or Rotterdam or The Hague or Leiden or Maastricht or Delft.... less pricy and much more genuine Dutch

Great, you've ate at all the typical tourist traps that sell overpriced and overcomplicated versions of the original recipe. Try to avoid these at all cost whenever you're in Amsterdam and just go to a less known place or even the market.

This is not a guide to Amsterdam. This is a list of tourist traps. Americanized tourist junk and overpriced. Any place with a waiting queue has to be avoided at all price! The real Dutch way is not customized food but just simple plain - "Doe maar normaal ! Dat is al gek genoeg!"

Hey Mate, Love the passion here. We didn't find the prices to be too bad considering and the food was delicious (although upon reflection the fries weren't great). We will be sure to check out some more "authentic" cuisines upon our next visit. Cheers for the Comment - Jake
