Right now you can't compare Caufield to Martin St-Louis. MSL was a more complete player and tougher like Snake mentionned. The only thing is that his shoulder might not be completely healed which would explain his lack of accuracy and might be protecting his shoulder going in the corners.

You cannot again look at just points because an example Rob Brown playing with Mario Lemieux.ANY player can put up some numbers if they get with the right players that is no longer about the individual that is about the line the TEAM. I mentioned last year when the Flyers were missing their two best players ALL year that Travis Konecny who makes LESS than Cole and Nick produced better and is a MUCH better player. So this year with Couture is back in the lineup Konecny is even better than both Cole and Nick and makes a lot less.Konecny this year on a team some social media people were saying was one of the worst teams in the league is 21-18 39 pts and PLUS 16 !!!. Peopel are OFTEN talking about makar the suepr star he is only a +7 on a stacked line. I am glad we see kovacevic is a +6 last year on an injured team he was an EVEN he is much better than most people realize.

If Snake evaluated Monty when he was picked up, he would have trashed him. He just doesn't understand that goalies take time to mature. Not saying Primeau will succeed in the NHL, but Snake is just spewing nonsense and thinks he's king sh.. He's a clown at times. Speaking objectively, I agree with him that all star games and junior championships are not a great way to evaluate prospects.

I would compare Caufield to Anthony Mantha who is also not very interested when he doesn't have the puck. When Mantha does get the puck he can score and he can make plays but he has somethign over Caufield he can protect the puck. The problem with these type of players is that they will NOT make others around them better they will not win the battlss and create chances for OTHER players around them. The analogy used wit that 93 team cannot be used because that 93 team was STACKED with talent and valuable two way players. There is no way a modern team could have that kind of roster and remain under the salary cap. Kirby Dach is NEVER going to be anymore than an average second line player.I disagree Dach does not make others around him better he is like the Caufield's a LEECHER ttype player. "production"is NOT th ebe all end all you also need to be a PLUS player especially if you are on the first line getting all the ice time.Something seldom ever talked about is HOCKEY IQ and the Habs have many low IQ players.

Agree with the Snake on most Habs prospects, fans and media pump the tires of these young men a little bit too much and it has become quite embarrassing from such a so-called ''knowledgeable'' fanbase. On top of dubious or safe but low ceilling picks over the years, the Habs never put themselves in the best position at the right moments to draft the next generational players. They are always shopping at the thrift stores hoping to find a Chanel suit in a pile of garbage, drafting in the mid to late 1st round rarely gets you a superstar player. Where was the team after they drafted Slaf when everybody knew that Bedard would be the next one? They should have done like the Hawks and go on a fire sale, trade any veteran of value to make sure they finish as close as possible to last place. I am afraid that the Habs lack ruthlessness when it comes to executing the rebuild, it seems karma has rewarded the Hawks for doing the right moves like trading DeBrincat, Dach and letting Kane and Toews go. They did what they had to do to tank and they in return received the 1st overall pick.

i dont want caufield going to the "dirty " areas. its not his job he shouldnt have to imo. he shouldnt be put in a situation where he is needed to just give more than a passing check. i dont want him around the dirty end of a one timer or slapshot thats wild from the point. what is caufield? a perimeter player ,so what. his job is to get open in the slot.and shoot. not check, not block, not play a two way game.thats what the center and other winger are for. you mention patches.when not alone with vegas, orther people did that job as well.making him a point a game player for a few years until he hurt his leg. the exact same thing happened with galchenuck.tried to turn a 30 goal guy into a two way center.if they found a two way center, would chucky be out of the game? perhaps, but his decline wouldnt have been so quick. i dont want cole caufield turned into a third line two way forward.i want him shooting the puck whenever hes open.its not like hes drouin out there. but even drouin, used properly, with talent.seems to be a good player.not asked to check or play two ways....with mckinnon feeding him the puck. \sick
