Fact about the giant otters: In the 70s at a Zoo in Brasilia (capital of Brazil) a child fell in a lake with some of these otters. A Sargent of the army jumped to save the kid and was able to do so, but eventually died three days later due to the severity of the wounds and sepsis due to wound infection. As a homage, the Zoo is now called "Sargent Silvio Delmar Hollenbach".

Yep. Happened to me...and they were the standard size type. One early morning, I walked to the water's edge of a lake and saw a group of otters dining on a fish. Fascinating. Until they spotted me watching them. They all dove into the water - then suddenly, in unison, they popped up - in a three prong formation - hissing, spitting and growling. Being 30 or so feet away, I was intrigued. Until they all dove under again, in perfect choreography. A few seconds later - up they popped: same triangular formation: one in front of me, one to my right, one to my left. Only now they are about 20 feet away: hissing, spitting and growling. When they did it again, surfacing about 10 feet from me, you can bet I high tailed it out of there!!! I'm guessing they thought I was going to steal their fish and that wasn't about to happen on their watch.

@@De3dSh0t They were so cute - I didn't know they were serious. Besides, I thought they were beavers until I later did research and found out beavers don't eat fish.
