Hello, quick commentary from a french guy. I realy enjoy the calm in your voice and the passionate way you talk about keyboards. I built my own not so long ago, encouraged by your videos. Keep it up !

Well from a Canadian guy, thank you! Glad to hear you're enjoying the hobby :)

I've been using the stock lubed Glorious Pandas for a while and really enjoyed them. However I'm trying some linear right now, even though I've been a tactile/clicky guy my entire life, and actually enjoying the smoothness of Morandi. The factory lube job on the Pandas is really good, at least on the ones made in early 2023 and they are nice and thocky sounding out of the box but the price is significantly more expensive. Great review!

I'm more of a thocc person than a clack, but I feel these are the fine line

they certainly do a bit of both!

Another great video mate. I can’t wait for the next one. I will say, I have never experienced a switch that after modding still had a squeak. My switches sound like there are tiny mice getting pinched every time I actuate them. I am looking at trying to create a frankenswitch with the stem before just flat out binning them.
@PatrickRennie3 жыл бұрын
Thanks pal! What kind of switches? I wonder if a spring swap might help with that. In my experience the squeak tends to come from the compression of the spring in the switch
@Arsnicks3 жыл бұрын
@@PatrickRennie The glorious panda’s. Even after a spring swap. I think I’m just super harsh due to the ‘Glorious Holy Panda’ saga

Love the informative vid! Quick question though, what thickness film were you using? Only Deskeys films I could find were 0.3mm.
@PatrickRennie3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that Deskeys only offers films in 0.3mm thickness.
@whotookstitch3 жыл бұрын
@@PatrickRennie I assume from the vid they fit well with the switches even though people have struggled with even 0.15mm films on the GPs. Thanks for your prompt response!

Yeah YMMV but I personally didn't have any issues applying the films.

Hey, Patrick. Awesome video! Kind of curious to try the pandas myself. That noise for stock made me cringe, but lubed and filmed? They sound fantastic. Just curious though, are you more a tactile or linear guy?
@PatrickRennie3 жыл бұрын
Hah, to each their own but I found these to be some of the better stock experiences as of late. Way better than say the Halo Trues for example. I was initially a tactile guy, but ever since I got Cherry MX Blacks for my ID80 build I've leaned toward linears. The switches in my daily driver at the moment are linears, but I might switch it up soon!
@b1_ferg3 жыл бұрын
@@PatrickRennie Oh, I don't mean that it wouldn't be a good stock switch, merely the sound of the switch. I've only just gotten into the switch game so my expertise is severely limited. I'm sure I'll feel the same the more I try. And thanks for the reply. I was hesitant to go Linear for my first build, but I thoroughly enjoy the Tealios V2's. Ended up working out great.

is it me or is the audio phased like... a miniscule but noticiable amount ? i couldn't tell.. a 20th of a second or something ? of course its only noticiable when you speak on camera. Great video anyway! It's just a detail :)

Can this fit on a redragon keyboard
@PatrickRennie3 жыл бұрын
These switches should be compatible with most hot-swappable PCBs, so if your Redragon has that then you should be fine.

They're pretty nice eh?
@pc_decisions87643 жыл бұрын
@@PatrickRennie i found them pretty interesting wit tribosys 3203 (without film since tolerances are already way too good from and engineer point and these don't bottom out the stem), also these are interesting because cherry profile keycaps are compatible north or south facing. If you don't know what you want, these are good for typing or gaming, unlikely holy yok pandas (which i find better suited for typing), pretty much 90-95% of the holy panda in my own experience , the only true danger is the fekker panda (which inconsider 75% the holy panda and 80% glorius panda) for less than half the price of a drop panda. The fact that switches come "dry" are a deal breaker if you dont have an ultrasonic cleaner to me.

why you open switch like that? Just press down the switch.

I can't stand these switches with pole bottoming out. It's harsh and not very pleasant typing experience. U4Ts have spoiled me
@PatrickRennie3 жыл бұрын
U4T's are super nice, it is true. I'm not sure I agree that these are an unpleasant typing experience, but to each their own.
@muCephei_3 жыл бұрын
@@PatrickRennie After a few days I got to liking them. It required me to change my typing style, in which case the bottoming out is a pleasant clack sound and not jarring on the fingers. I was not an aggressive typer by any means... I just can't seem to put into words the exact difference from my previous typing behavior.
