I work on my own vehicle as well but I got the dewalt dcf900 kit for $349. Best money I've spent. It takes EVERYTHING off with ease. That said, I use kobalt Impact drill/drivers all day long, and I love them.

I'm glad you reviewed this! I bought mine back in 2020 Holiday Sale for $199 at Lowes. The same kit you showed. I needed to do a timing belt job on my Honda, and I needed an impact that had over 600ft-lbs of break-away torque. Unfortunately everything else was out of my price for what I needed it. This was the best purchase for something I won't use a lot.

I'm a general contractor by trade, only many types of tools especially Milwaukee.... I bought my first kobalt set of impacts and hammer drill about 6 years ago, use them religiously every single day, they had never let me down. I now own the kobalt XTR line, let's just say I sold all my Milwaukee's tools... And now I buy nothing but kobalt... I prefer to keep my money in my pocket.

Can't disagree that's it's a good buy for the coin, ESPECIALLY if you're getting a free right angle with it which is awesome as well. But if you're mainly removing lug nuts, no need to swing this thing around all day. Most of the top brands of mid-torques will take off every lug nut we see. And if you need more power for suspension, ball joints, shackles ect there's other high torques that are smaller and lighter with more beans.
@rtgray7
@rtgray7 3 жыл бұрын
"Smaller and lighter with more beans" maybe but it will cost you A LOT more beans also. TTC do you realize that price is a major factor, and THE major factor on some tools, especially for DIY's? I'm a woodworker and have nice tools but I just want the best for the buck when changing tires on my trucks or tractor.

For your friend to say that the XTR won't compete with the Snap-on is as subjective as all get out. I was in Lowe's today and there were two Kobalt heavy duty Impacts on the display both with batteries. I tried both of them and the older style felt kinda jittery, but the XTR felt very smooth and powerful. They felt equally heavy. I am shopping for a compact 3/8 impact and while I like what I am seeing in the Kobalt, I want to wait to see if they release a new compact XTR line impact.

What I do is turn the torque setting all the way down so I can run the nuts down snug and then use torque wrench to tighten them. Takes to long to spin the nuts on buy hand. There are also torque extensions designed to torque lugs with an impact. Point is that if you are careful it can be done without damage. Correct though, this guy is clueless.

I got this a few years ago when my ancient 60-gallon air compressor went night-night and I just needed something right now. Currently I'm getting into the Flex line, so of course I'm looking at their impact wrench. A weird feature of the Flex that I don't get, though... the whole head/motor assembly seems to not be connected to the handle/grip section? Like, it wobbles. I'm guessing this is for vibration mitigation, but it just doesn't feel sturdy like the XTR.

180 Nm is less than 150 ft-lbs. I know because my Freak 2 (1800 in-lbs) is 200Nm (that's the model number for overseas). In-lbs to Ft-lbs is a way easier conversion, just divide the in-lbs / 12. 200 Nm is roughly 150 ft-lbs so there you got it. PS. I rotate my tires with the Freak 2 but I couldn't remove a front spindle which had a spec of 250 ft-lbs . Reality is most mid torques are enough for automotive work

This kobalt xtr sucked I had it in my shop using it day after day and it held up for a month before all the bolts started to back out and it started whining. I took it back

Kobalt is SUPERIOR. I use to own Milwaukee fuel brushless that were stolen and I just bought the new xtr line of tools from kobalt, and now i am not going back...they are very powerful, very nice looking, better stats, better construction, ergonomics are fantastic, HALF the price, 5 year warranty, more features on the tools, should I keep going on? The era of the over priced red and black tools are over folks, open your eyes

200 foot pounds of torque? That sounds obsurd, I work in a automotive shop and have a foot pound chart and they’re mostly rated around 80-110 exception being the metris with 60ft pounds on some years

I think it’s funny when automotive techs say this isn’t a good brand is hilarious. Ima diesel tech. Experience with trash trucks, buses and semis and this does plenty of good on the regular. Only goofies think you have to have Milwaukee and snap on. I have Milwaukee impacts as well and I agree Milwaukee is the best too me but kobalt will do just fine for full time mechanics.

Ft lbs is always less in numbers compared to Newton meters. So a 150 NM is 110.6 lb ft of torque. That mechanic way off with his numbers.

The snap on 1/2 inch high torque is longer, weighs more and is 1000 dollars. I don't buy snap on as a pro automotive tech. Snap on costs more and is gives more fatigue.

The point... should more be focused on.. What's it's competition..? in it's same league. is there better ? or does the XTR ! Take the cake 🎂 Bang for buck? 😁I think it does.

I pull transmissions for a living. I love my milwaukee high torque and midtorque. But the kobalt is hitting hard. I'd say 95% of the umph for 50% of the cost
