The California Strength Team demonstrates how to learn the Olympic Weightlifting Snatch. In this second of three parts, Jon North, Donny Shankle, and Caleb Ward demonstrate while Glenn Pendlay narrates and David Spitz films.
The intro is a clip of Donny Shankle hitting a lifetime personal record of 173.5 kg in the snatch.

Hi, thank you for these amazing uploads. They are greatly detailed and point out the exact points of attention. very helpful !!. i'm not a weightlifter but use these exercises to strengthen my back and it became very helpful as a base for the martial art.

Great quality instruction but when Glenn says, "stop" I hear "stomp" meow. Well in any case it's rare that such giants of the industry are all on an instructional video that is free of charge, thanks a million team Cal Strength.

how long should a beginner do these with the bar and how many sets and reps? Also, what's a clear indication that a lifter is ready to progress to higher weight?

1 hour a day. start with empty bar. do it 3 times a week, every third time raise the weight for 2, 2.5 or 3kg. as many perfect reps as possible within the hour.

Those are adidas. Theyre pretty expensive but really good. You could try some Wei-Ruit Warriors. I got them for 70 bucks and theyre pretty solid.
