I'd love to see Jesse over at StillIt get his hands on some of this gear and do some videos with detail about using it. I've never gotten into distilling because it's been a bit intimidating, but watching him for a while now has gotten me interested and less nervous. Looks like this system might be possible to build a good beginner still, and reckon he could be a good partner for making learning content. Amazing product development as always, guys.

Yes that is a good point. We will get one over to Jesse. We recently spoke to him about this and if we are lucky we might be able to convince him to give this new still design a go.

Your really need to foucs on plastic safty part, when I built my still most post on homedistiller forums was very sceptical of even ptfe, silicon was unheard of. that was only for gaskets, now you want to build a whole collum of plastic.@@KegLand

I brew on my Brewzilla and there is a lot of info out there about them but there doesn't seem to be any good videos for beginners and there is nothing out there for distilling on any of your distilling equipment, is it possible you can do a how too video for beginners? There are a lot who want to upgrade from extract to all grain or even distilling but there's a real lack of informaiton on getting started
@KegLand11 ай бұрын
Yes I will make sure we do this moving forward. Distillation is an area we have a massive shortage of videos and information so we will try and do a better job of this moving forward.

This will defo be an upgrade from my airstill as I recently got a brewzilla gen 4 and moved to all grain brewing this is defo the next step for distilling just hope I can find a stockist in the UK👍 hope theres going to be some good content on how to use as a beginners guide 👍 great products cheers 🍻

Yes absolutely. We are going to do a number of new distillation videos to describe the process in a bit more detail.

Completely unrelated but: have you guys ever considered creating a new version of the Nukatap Mini shank to be compatible with the regular Nukatap? I really like that setup for fridge walls because regular shanks feel a bit "too much" but I prefer the looks of the regular Nukatap. It felt such an easy product to make that I'm surprised it doesn't exist already.
@KegLand11 ай бұрын
Yes absolutely. This is also something that has been discussed. We really hate the standard 5/8 shank and it's time that this was improved. It was easy with the nukatap mini to use a new standard but with the older style taps we will have to convince customers to switch over to a new shank design.
@hugojeller11 ай бұрын
@@KegLand if I understand correctly the idea was to change the Nukatap thread to a new standard? If so that indeed would be a challenge. But having the option for both regular shanks and a modified version of the Nukatap Mini one would be amazing.

Looks awesome! When will they be release and on the website?
Wow this is exciting. I use a pot and reflux still from you guys and love them on my 35L brewzilla gen4. I've been doing a lot of vapour infusions using columns below the pot still with awesome results. But it's so cumbersome and gets so tall. So the polyphenix sounds perfext to me. A few terms you used there there are new to me, so it is time to do some research and swot up. I'll be all-in once it comes out. I just don't want to be short on power if I have a big column, with temps having to be scorching hot at the bottom to get the right temperatures at the top.
@KegLand11 ай бұрын
Hey Kieran. Good to hear from you! The 3inch diameter column still works on lower powers too so even if you went down to under 1000watts you can still run it fine. As you would know with the older alcoengine designs if these are tightly packed you can have flooding issues at around 2kw so you cant even use the full power of 10amp supply. Really keen to get these out into the wild and get feedback from our customers. We really have not done enough work on the distillation gear up until recently but we are making this a focus for us for the next few years.

@@KegLand that's great to hear Kee! After brewing for so many years (and still am), I'm finding it a lot of fun doing distillations. So I look forward to seeing the new stuff you dream up. :)

gross. Maybe later we can all do shots of PFAS and take rips of BPA? Yeah, so MAYBE this doesn't have BPA, but it's got something else in it. Glass, stainless, copper or gtfo. Just because you can make and sell something doesn't mean you should. Shame on you taking advantage of people who don't know any better and don't have the money to buy proper safe gear. You know it used to be a lot easier and cheaper to use lead instead of proper solder or welding. Why would anybody even risk this dangerous junk? It's not even something that can't be easily made in a proven safe metal. It's only benefit is the higher profit margin. Like I said, gross.
@lamehunter3 ай бұрын
Do you have any proof PPSU interact with alcohols?
@MrJhchrist3 ай бұрын
@@lamehunter I have proof that stainless steel doesn't and that copper BENEFICIALLY interacts. Why risk unproven plastic? To save 20%? Seems pound foolish.
@PetraKann11 ай бұрын
Even in Germany home distilling of ethanol is illegal . In Australia you need a license to distill alcohol. The tax on pure ethanol is about $82 per Litre. So a 700mL bottle of 40% ABV spirit will attract about $23 in tax payable to the ATO. You can see why home distillers take the risk. The only legal stills that I am aware of are for therapeutic and medicinal oil extracts - the pot still is limited to 500mL. Keep your distilling equipment separate from the actual wort boiler and always have a 500mL pot that fits the column and condensers etc. You can always claim that you use the still for separating volatile oils from Lemon peels. (And you have no idea where the large crate of vodka bottles in the corner are used for😮)
@KegLand11 ай бұрын
Yes you are absolutely correct. If you wanted to attach a boiler over 5L in volume to this still you will have to apply for a licence with the ATO.
