in the beginning, she seemed so SUPER upset and emotional about it. I think her doing the show was a mistake because sometimes, we CAN admit things but we don't want to be put in the spot light; things should be private so we can handle them properly and then come out shinning. i feel like she lost weight. but because she felt "foolish", said defensive things like "so i should cut out salads" (ughk, lol), and rly didn't look flattering, she did not quite make 2 stone and did not think it was worth it to go back and "look foolish" unless she lost MORE than 2 stone =/. i feel a lil bad. we dont always MEAN to have a bad attitude, lol

She was angry because she thought they'd take her word for what she was eating and didn't know they'd "spy" on her outside of her kitchen and living room. She was also angry that her Aunt Christy set her up and reported what she ate. The amount of mayo whether accurate or not was where she was getting all the calories and she was angry that they said it was a full jar. She claims it wasn't. She got very defensive about her Sunday breakfast and refused to change that habit. Without changing those two things it would be impossible for her to lose weight. This program just shows that most people do not realize how much they eat on a daily basis. If you eat more than you burn off just being alive (about 1800 - 2000 calories for a woman - 2500 for a man) then you won't lose. To eat 1800 and lose weight you have to exercise too and I don't think she did any of that.

I got all watery eyed when they said Big G had lost 50 pounds. What an important decision he made to help himself. So proud of that precious man. As for Dawn...I theorize she lost half a stone and that's why she refused to return for the weigh in. She wouldn't hear it about anything she was doing that was keeping her from success- even though she came on the show to hear those reasons. Additionally, I know they did a shot of her "working out" but there was no sweat whatsoever, and her hair was styled and fresh looking. She didn't go there to do any hard work that would mess up her style or have her hair getting in the way or stuck to her face. Its like they just did it to get the shot. If she IS working out regularly, its not for long enough or in the fat burning zone. She's her own worst enemy at this point and I hope that watching her counterparts lose weight has lit a new fire beneath her.

I don’t believe that she lost any weight. If she had, she would have done everything to be there, or she would have least sent a picture. The show didn't mention that Dawn was probably eating too many calories for her tdee anyway. We didn't see Dawn do any exercise or try to be active and she doesn't look like a tall woman, so chances are her tdee is actually under 2000. I think it may be to blame for her not losing weight - as a small slim sedentary woman myself 2000 cals would make me gain rather than lose. The 2000 for women/2500 for men rule is not universal and shouldn't be treated as such. Calculate your tdee, there's plenty of free calculators online and take away about 500 cals max from that and you'll have sustainable weight loss.

G and bro became active during their tracked diet of good food so we see weight loss. i'm sure Lynn emphasized this fact with them all before sending them off to implement their eating plans. something tells me Dawn wasnt willing to fully commit so she didnt lose weight refusing to return because she didnt want to be called out for not doing her part. she's someone who would get a gastric band and not do the work involved to make the band work.

This show is why you should always be skeptical when an obese person says they eat healthy and don't know why they're obese. Fat doesn't materialize out of thin air. The only way you can get fat is through overeating. Even salads can make you gain weight if you put too much stuff in it.

I used to be like 170 ish pounds at 5”4 and now I’m 115. At 170 pounds I was just as oblivious as them and I chalked my weight up to my “slow metabolism” but one day something just clicked and I wanted to change, so I started excersizing and eating less. Honestly I didn’t even really change what I was eating I would just skip breakfast and eat smaller portions. I walked and biked a lot and it only took me about 8 months to lose the weight. It’s honestly not as hard as people think it just takes consistency and dedication and not binge eating the weight back as soon as u hit ur target.

I gained a lot of weight drinking about half a litre of scotch every night for a couple years, and then expected to lose a lot by quitting. Ended up gaining even more because I just replaced it with snacking. Did take a big change in mindset to fix. Do all my eating between 12-6pm and keep calories below 1500. No processed carbs. 1 apple and some cheddar at around 12, 2 tbsp of chia seeds in water at around 3, 250g of turkey mince and loads of veg for dinner. I've lost so much weight.

You can see how in later season they have learned how to get even more proof for people, because of how defensive some have been. Like putting hidden cameras in cars, at work and at friends houses. Or having the dietitian there with them showing the equivalent of the calories they were eating in a month. I really like this show, especially the little experiments with the psychologist

To be fair to Dawn, she didn’t have as many bad habits that needed correction and I’m sure it was so hard to be told that the things she enjoys are contributing to her inability to lose weight is really hard. Hopefully she can get over the hurt feelings and moderate her eating. She’s a petite woman and so even a little excess really shows on her.

While true that it isn't inherently fattening, fat has 9 calories per gram and people tend to eat a lot of it, so it really does tend to largely contribute to weight gain. Like half an avocado can easily be over 200 calories because of its fat content, but people think "it's healthy". Yeah it is, but healthy or unhealthy, calories still count. If you limit your fat intake, you're most likely going to lose weight because its so calorific. But so is sugar. Of course you can eat fat and lose weight (Keto) but you still have to watch it because keto only works if you're in a caloric deficit.

So glad someone said that , fat does contain more calories but healthy fats can also help to satisfy you for longer in my experience. I do think it’s good to be aware what you are eating though , by all means have some mayo but you should know roughly how many calories are in it and not eating blindly lol .I really like this show and I cringed when she got so defensive over Mayo , she didn’t need too she wasn’t aware so it’s ok she can sort it now we all make mistakes 🤣

My bf lost like 60 lb when he was just out of high school (we are almost 40 now) and he is very critical of eating any kind of junk food. I was bulimic from ages 11-20 and still have occasional binge eating issues. Because of how critical he is I find myself secretly binge eating when he's not around, because I can eat what I want without having to feel guilty without him there to be critical. It's so annoying because I gained some weight during quarantine and I'm trying to lose it so I fit back into my clothes and I'm having so much trouble losing weight for the first time in my life because of this issue with secret eating. I just can't stop! I don't know what to do!

Hi! I don’t know if you’ll see this and I know it’s been a while since your comment but I hope you’re doing well! I’m a bulimic too, I don’t think one ever really recovers from an unhealthy relationship with food. I don’t know if you actually want advice but what I personally feel helps me is not labeling foods as good or bad, if I want something, I let myself eat it. I have a treat pretty much every day and I’m still losing weight. I just make sure that I’m not hungry when I do so. I eat a lot of low calorie- High volume foods with a lot of fibers and protein. I truly feel like trying to keep track of my macros and exercising mindful portion sizes while never ruling out any foods I crave helps me not get super excited about the ”bad foods” or get too emotional about my eating. Then all of a sudden I’m able to eat all the foods that would normally trigger a binge without needing to devour a massive amount and feeling horrible about it. As forementioned I hope you’re doing well. I also feel like talking to my partner about my feelings around food helps me not binge and purge when I’m away from him. Lots of love ❤

You need to talk to him about how his criticism makes you feel. If you can't communicate your feelings to him then I'd question whether he is right for you. So sorry you're going through this, I also suffered with bulimia from my early teens to early 20s (31 now) and I'm 99.9% recovered, I relapse maybe once a year usually due to stress. Speak to your boyfriend about how it makes you feel and what you are going through. If you can't speak to him I'd seek out a therapist.

It's likely that Dawn needed to cut down to something like 1700 calories. She needed to start counting calories, instead of allowing herself unlimited amounts of safe foods. She needed to start knowing exactly how much she was eating and then slowly start cutting back 100 calories at a time.

Dawn was definitely eating more and unhealthily in the last few years but she pretended to eat salads while the crew were filming her. She easily eats 3000 calories on each weekend day. It’s A LOT harder for women to lose weight because of their hormones, periods, menopause etc so the approach to losing weight needs to be tactful, informed, drastic, disciplined and discussed with a doctor beforehand.

I’m a 32 year old six foot male who eats 2850 calories a day for my maintenance clarities and that includes 8-10k steps a day plus gym 3 days a week lifting weights. I have to eat only 2400 to lose one pound a week. She was in such denial. Which I was also before I lost 45 pounds.

My TDEE is 1400, so to get the same calorie deficit as you I have to eat 950 calories, which is strongly discouraged as it will be hard to get all necessary nutrients. 1200 is the minimum, which gives me a daily deficit of 200 calories. Over the week, that’s 1400 calories. Over your week, a 450 daily deficit is 3150, a big meal at the weekend could wipe out my weekly efforts. Couple that with the fact that exercise burns fewer calories when you’re female, with the genetic predisposition to store fat, and it really is so much harder for women. In case you haven’t guessed, I find this deeply frustrating.
