Man. I've watched these guys for years, experimented with some simple effects when I was young because of them but as I grew, I gained more interest in coding. Now, I'm finishing my masters and I gained a new passion for deep learning and especially, GANs. It's crazy to see Niko venture into it so much recently and being so good at it. Solving the data problem he had was extremely difficult and his VFX/creative background showed how important domain knowledge is to solve data scarcity issues and develop realistic models. This is probably my favorite video you guys made. It was honestly inspiring. I guess it might not be too late to learn visual effects after all :).

That was honestly a really clever directing decision to make the clip look like it was from the 90s -- it plays really well into the current weaknesses of deepfakes relying on crisp imagery to provide a clear result. However, with 90s footage all being blurry by today's standards, you don't need to worry so much about the clarity of the deepfake.

Recently heard a conversation about how people's faces could become a currency. They would just have to use a deepfake instead of bringing the actual person in. Pretty dystopian.
