Doggystyle was instantly the best rap album ever. It may not be number 1 all time as of right now but it's still up there. At party's, barbecues and cookouts you didn't dare change the music.

You know, I feel like people forget that when this album came out, it was super hyped up, but most music critics and fans (including myself), thought it was just ok and didn’t live up to the hype. But the album aged like fine wine, and a few years later, everyone realized (including myself again) that it was a masterpiece. Hellaciously fun and well put together album. One of my favs.

On the first pressing of the cassette version of 'DoggyStyle' there's a song called 'Gz Up, Hoes Down'. It contains a musical sample from 'The Look Of Love' by Issac Hayes. Apparently the sample wasn't cleared and it was left off subsequent pressings. But you can easily find it.

This is one of those songs that clicked up the level of infatuation i developed with rap music as a kid. This is a big part of the soundtrack to a very specific time in my life, around 12 years old, running around the neighborhood with my buddies. Still my favorite Snoop song.

Merry Christmas! I knew you'd like this song. The person doing the "dog" in that weird voice is a sample of George Clinton, which is also who the beat is sampled from. Snoop was a big fan of his and has sampled quite a few of his songs and/or vocals over the years.

Almost 30 years old. I bought the tape back in the day. The first rap album I fell in love with and for sure one of the top ten in the classic section. The whole album was fun and really put Deathrow as a powerhouse in the 90s. I remember even people that didn't like rap music would listen to this whole album. Merry Christmas, Brian!! I remember when this album first came out, I bought it amd absolutely loved the song G'z Up Hoes Down... my album was stolen from my car and had to buy again... lost it once again and had to buy it once again, I realized that the track G'z Up Hoes Down was missing!!! I was devastated. I now know the reason why, but I was disappointed.

In 2019 Snoop released a song called "Let Bygones Be Bygones" on which he comes back on the story of Death Row Records. A great track, hope you can add it to your (already very long) list :)
