The predators in the other movies were hunters and they was hunting. But this predator who was called Wolf wasn't hunting, he was cleaning up a mess. "Containing the situation" as people called it. So it would make sense for him to kill the officer so he wouldn't tell everybody what he saw.

And not to mention that the only reason he killed the cop because he saw him and it was his mission to wipe all traces of the xenomorphs while undetected.

There are actually two opposing reasons. One is to scare away unarmed/ cowardly humans. The second is to bait and draw in other armed and dangerous prey to that location. -- Wolf wasn't there to hunt, so he would have did it as a calculated diversion. What bugs me, is that when Deputy Ray's skinned body is discovered, they would have immediately had the rest of the Gunnison police (and more from the rest of the state of Colorado) dispatched there for a manhunt. Very absurdly, this doesn't happen. A dead, mutilated police officer is the last thing that would be taken as lightly. I digress.. -- Anyhow, being that Wolf wasn't there to hunt, he would have did it as a diversion. Perhaps reasoning that the area was clear of alien evidence, and that by drawing most of the police away from the town would make it easier for Wolf to silently track down and eliminate the xenomorphs before things got even more out of hand, as they did.

The lead predator, "Wolf", is named after a character in Pulp Fiction who cleans up certain types of messes. Predaliens are considered abominations in Predator/Yautja society. The Unrated versions of these films include more footage and are more violent than their theatrical versions. A predalien is playable in the videogame Aliens vs Predator 2: Primal Hunt

It was REALLY bad in theaters in regards to lack of lighting. It was somewhat better on Blu Ray but it's still too damn dark in many scenes to see anything. Sucks too because the practical effects with the Alien and Predator suits looks great in behind the scenes footage.

Those scenes were brighter in the red band trailer so not sure what happened. Rumor is in post it was darkened by the studio to hide the obvious suit work for the Aliens and Predator but honestly they looked great in the red band trailer footage.

Yeah, Greg and Colin Strause did the same thing near the end of Skyline (2010), where the inside of the alien mothership was darkened for the the same reason.

Plus, this Predator that came down alone. I am guessing is more experience and older than the ones that were in the first AVP movie. Those were a rite of passage training moments for younger Predators to prove themselves, while this one is probably a lot older and is trying to take care of it quietly but of course that's not going to happen as we've seen Alien Xenomorph. always make things worse.

Yes, this one (wolf) is an elite one, those kinds are the ones who clean up a serious problem, the ones on AVP are teenagers whenever they are 3 together they hunt to prove themselves rank, the one on predator 1 and 2 are what's to come once they grow into adults from they teenagers stage solo hunts to find a worthy Challenger in one on one combat

I Feel that this movie would have been better if it was directed better. I do like things about it like the just one predator and the fact that it went R Rated but i do feel the editing is choppy and also for some reason it is so so dark in some places. Okay. This movie had scenes that messed me up bad the first time I ever watched it. Out of all of the Alien movies and whatnot, this was far from the worst I've seen well, since recent to watching Alien Covenant. But the kid? But the pregnancy thing messed me up bad, the visuals were so much more on point and scarier and make you sick to your stomach with some scenes at least it did for me, it wasn't just happening off screen or in the shadows like in other films that we've watched, we really see everything in this movie. And honestly, I like the AVP Spin-off weather it's supposed to be attached to the Alien franchise or not I personally thought it made a great hit, and I wished they'd continued it honestly. But man, that's messed up and like I said scenes messed with me a lot in this movie. In my opinion this is total horror movie. But honestly, there are somethings like I said before, you just can't unsee once you've seen it. But either way, Great Reactions as always.

I wish the movie wasn't as visually dark, I think only the youtube digital purchase is brightened somewhat. But any other place you have to be in a dark void and turn off all lights to barely see anything lol I liked the Predator and Alien action in this, The predalien is an abomination but is so cool to watch Paul Ws Anderson was making Resident Evil extinction around this time I think so that's why he wasn't able to direct

it takes on its host traits in away. In Alien 3 it was a dog, so it acted differently, and this one show what happens when it is mixed with a Predator's gens or whatever it uses to help a xenomorph to be born. predalien is what this hybrid is called. This particular Predalien was a young Queen, as it had the ability to impregnate female hosts with multiple (up to five) Bellybursters via an inner jaw proboscis-like tube inserted into the host's throat (much like how a Facehugger impregnates a host). It also has a large crest similar to that of a Queen Xenomorph.

The Predalien was certainly an interesting addition to the plot, design-wise. I like how it is super strong and menacing. Only flaw is that we, the audience couldn’t see the creature all that much(just the silhouette of it) because the lighting in the film was very bad.

I remember watching this in the cinema when it came out with friends and we were so let down cause you couldn't see shit going on lol. Sone years later i saw a version where. Either the studio or some techie fan brightened it up. It still wasn't perfect but it made it s better watch.
