This video is super long and is mainly for you to use as background noise while you work on your own projects. I'm chatting and drawing away and it was fun! I didn't know what do to for this weeks video so this ended up being it, I hope you don't mind. More doll/design videos when I finish my Kickstarter shipping! Love you all, have a fantastic weekend

I am just recently getting into your chat while you doodle. and just before you made mention of the beauty in the imperfect, wabi sabi was what i wanted to blurt out as I am sketching. Wabi Sabi is what i base a lot of my own artistic work around and use it in my photo compositions, which I later use in my own artwork/paintings.... Keep up the amazing work.

Beautiful work. I learned so much just by watching you paint. You also made me realize that I can use "color references" when planning my own pieces. Color has always been a point of frustration of my art game and when I saw that you were using pics you found on Pinterest I was like, "D'oh! So simple - why didn't I think of that??" Any way thanks for putting this vid out and keep up the excellent work.

I have to say that I really enjoy videos like this. I love artist's blogs that i can listen to in the background while I doodle or work on my stuff, so I was really excited when I saw the thumbnail for this video! I would appreciate more of that sort! Also your art is stunning and so inspiring to me. Keep it up!

I think Japanese calligraphy drawings are beautiful too. Really like the environment style you were going for with your Snowcat Prince story! Maybe your story could be an epic like Homer’s Odyssey or Gulliver’s Travels? A journey story that takes the characters and readers to distant, snow-covered lands? Hopefully I don’t sound like I’m pushing a story idea on you, but it would give you a chance to explore different environmental backgrounds like this one.

Thumbnails can be any size it’s just advised you make them on the small size for a few reasons 1) so the overall composition is the focus not details 2) so you move on and don;t get too precious with it. Many (I’d even say most) people make thumbnails larger than a real thumbnail more like 3cm by 4cm to 10cm by 15 cm I’d say; from myself and others I’ve observed. Most often you can put at least 2 on a page and often more like 5+. Make them whatever size works the best for you as an individual rather than thinking there is a ‘proper’ size! Sorry just had to inform everyone bout that. Like rambling discourse videos as background noise when working on my own stuff watched this while inktobering. Thanks for the video!
@ellespoonies6 жыл бұрын
ValasaFantastic Definitely! It also depends on your prefered canvas size when drawing, if you're used to huge pieces of paper obviously your thumbnails will be larger, where as I draw very small so my thumbnails truly are only a few cm. It also depends what you're using the thumbnail for, initial ideas would need less space (probably) than a color/value study thumbnail. One way to think about it is youtube video thumbnails, some people would use a high quality PNGs for their thumbnail while others will use a basic JPG, and even though one is technically higher quality if you were to zoom in they both serve the same purpose in the end!

Elle Marie True! I find the size of the paper does effect my thumbnails actually! Thanks.

I love watching these 'draw with me' videos!! Your drawings are so beautiful and they're really nice having on in the background while I'm studying! ❤❤ Just one thing though (about what you said about whether artists should like what they create), and I always think you should enjoy what you create and be proud of it! I know you can't like everything, but there always seems to be so much negativity towards liking your own creations and being proud of them, it really bothers me. Sometimes it seems like in some artistic communities that you can't appreciate you're actually good at drawing or painting or writing without being arrogant or egotistical. Enjoy what you do and be impressed by you're own art! It's more fun for you and it more worthwhile than feeling as if you have to put yourself down all the time for the sake of others, and losing that sense of accomplishment. I know it's not what the video is about, but I always think spreading positivity and encouraging self-confidence in the art community is important 🙂 (Plus, if you're worried about being a bit of an egocentric twit, you're usually too self-aware to actually be behaving that way, haha)

Hello, amazing video as always and I love your illustration style. I noticed you were having trouble with a watermark (the blotch on the upper right of the painting). I paint with watercolor a lot, and have had the same issue. You can deal with a watermark by wetting the effected area again, and gently rubbing the watermark (specifically, the ring of color around the blotch) with a small brush and dabbing the extra color up with a paper towel. I hope that helps!
