Off topic, but I ordered a Lift Bridge mug, and was happily surprised that it not only arrived quickly, but was perfectly packaged and undamaged. This was sadly not the case for a different mug I ordered from another company (Z*****), which arrived in a cardboard box with the handle broken in two places. I've travelled extensively in this country, lived in Vermont (town of Swanton), raised my kids there, and 6 miles from Canadian border. I know well the amount of snow you see there,and the bitter cold weather well below zero , but I loved it up there, . I love seeing your vids, the great lakes have always fascinated me. I was working in a steel mill in '75 when the Fitz went down. I was always trying to understand how y the lakes could be so violent. Originally named the Elton Hoyt II who was at time the President of Interlake. Originally built for Interlake. Spent many years shipping ore from a mine on Hoyt (named after Elton) Lake Mine up on the Iron Range. Didn't get used very much in the 1980s and 1990s due to reduced demand for ore. Did some hauling of stone and grain. Much time still idle quite a bit. But a true workhorse today!

I just started doing those premieres and it’s really fun. The reason why I liked them so much as I get to actually interact with everybody without worrying about what’s going on and zooming in, etc. this video was so fun to record because I knew the snow and ice would not last in Duluth. I had to get at least one video before January that showed what Winter should look like with a ship. There’s a cool ship coming in tonight, but I’ll see you if I’m still awake when it comes in. It’s the Sykes that we were talking about.

Hi Mike my boat friend it is starting to look like winter there with you and it's cold but hear in the south west part of the uk we have been having trouble weather and it's more like spring with the temperatures at day is around 12.6° C =55°F and between 40° to 45°F at night and wet but it's great to see it's dry but cold with you, this Canadian ship was coming in hot and she looks as if she could do with some paint on her port side, but most of all thanks for another great video and all the information you give us on these lakers and the saltys that dock load or discharge in Duluth.

Ruth, this ship is such a special workhorse. We see it so often that I think it just blends in but I love it and I think it’s a great ship that should never be forgotten. It also was the only ship that came through with ice and snow for me this year so this video with the ice and snow sets it apart

​​​​​​​Actually it's probably named after the Michipicoten River in that area of Whitefish Bay. Lower Lakes Towing liked to carry names honoring rivers, on or near where the vessels trade. At the time, she joined the Cuyahoga, Saginaw, and Mississagi (scrapped 2021) ..... all rivers...in the Lower Lakes Towing fleet. ​@@chucke4294
