Thanks , it worked great. I also smeared some dishsoap on the line as well to help it slide through easier. It was a tight fit on a 10.5 hp Tecumseh.

Good hint for fuel line replacement on this style Tecumseh. The only recommendation I have is to cut off and discard the part of the line that had the bolt inserted and blow thru the line with air before connecting to carburetor. The threads of the bolt can cut small particles of rubber that will lodge under the inlet needle and cause carburetor to flood.

When you look at all the different ways that people take these engines apart in order to get this fuel line and it’s scary! I absolutely was not interested in doing the repair until I saw your video. You know I got a lot of other things to do it’s a big farm but you made this into a half hour job and now I have new fuel line throughout! Thank you so much I do not know what I would do without KZbin and all you guys that help us fix stuff!

Just did this to my 5HP Tecumseh snowblower today and worked flawlessly. The first time I wrapped too much electrical tape and it got hung up, but I re-did it with just two wraps and it slid right through perfectly. Fantastic hack!

Excellent idea. Why didnt I think of that. I have been using a wire that I push through and then I stick it through the new gas line ( and sometimes my finger ) and tape it with electrical tape and pull it through.Of course that works as well but using the bolt is a much better idea. Trying to get a new gas line in without hooking it to the old one to use as a guide will ALWAYS result in the flywheel cutting through the gas line ( I used to do stupid things like that but Im cured now thanks to your videos). What impresses me most in your videos is that no matter how difficult the job is you never swear. I wish I could do that. LOL

I say Dony for Prime Minister ! It used to be that fuel lines would almost last forever but with ethanol and all those additives added to gas these days, even best quality fuel lines need replacement at 5 years intervals. They often look good from the outside but they desintegrate from the inside and small bits of rubber will clog the carburetor jet and passages.

Tried this on my son’s Toro snowblower with Tecumseh engine but after an hour had to give up. The replacement fuel line OD was larger than the original and we were unable to pull it through using splice method Don shows. We even tried loosening the starter shroud to give some additional wiggle room but no luck. Need to purchase matching OD fuel line.

I noticed you don't have a fuel cut off valve on the snow blower. I recently did a similar job on my personal snow blower replace the fuel line and carburetor, one additional upgrade I did is added a small Briggs & Stratton fuel filter since most snow blowers do not have a filter since you cannot always guarantee your putting clean fuel in your gas tank.

My old mid 90s Crapsman was too tight or had too many sharp turns for the electrical tape to hold. Even with the cover off there isn't enough space between the fins and the flywheel to tuck it in. Instead I ended up loosening the cover (way too much stuff in the way to bother removing it) to see back there and fished it through with a coat hanger. Still those three clips were so tight I had to cut 2/3 of the hose away leaving a 1 in flap for the wire to hook and still leave enough room for the twists and turns. At least that should outlast everything else on it now, lol.

I just push a large round Phillips screwdriver into the old line and pull line out towards fuel tank and then slide new line on the screwdriver tip and that threads the new line back through as you pull it towards the carb side. Lessens the chance of losing tape or bolt in housing and flywheel area.
