Wow that’s impressive. Thanks for sharing enjoyed your problem solving approach, not many people are built that way.

Thanks very much! Not too much I don't attempt. I enjoy the challenge, and as my dad used to say; "it's already broken. What's the worst thing that could happen- it'll still be broken" Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a nice comment!

@@colbyhumphrey2316 thanks! The only reason it came out so good is cause I didn’t think to video spray painting it. Down in my basement and I looked to my left and saw a can of grey touch up paint I used for my wife’s minivan. I thought - eh, I’ll throw some of this on top of the epoxy. No camera no nothing. Threw it down on the floor and hit it with a bit of touch up. Couldn’t believe how well it blended. Lucky. Thanks for watching and commented. PS lasted the 2023 ski season perfectly.

@@Samlol23_drrich love that! Can tell you were enjoying it, I love tinkering like that I just bought my self a board off Facebook and gonna tidy it up before I take it out!

Perfectly. Thanks very much for commenting how stupid that I didn't include spray painting it part! I make the shittiest videos because I never really think about it in advance I was down in the basement looking at it and I said maybe I'll hit it with some of this gray spray paint and I can't believe how good it looked and I said crap I didn't video that I suck but thanks for the comment and nice words

Thanks. My kid is gonna make his first turn this winter and the whole board is gonna fall apart........(hope not) Thanks for the compliment. Much appreciated

that turned out awesome. I'm going to tackle a similar job on my board which has a couple smaller chips. I think i'll use JB weld epoxy. is that pretty much the same thing chemical compound wise as what you used? Also for painting afterwards.... my board is an army green color. i could probably get a good match with model emanel paint you find at a hobby store. That should hold up fine, right?
@Samlol23_drrich11 ай бұрын
Thanks. You can definitely use J-B Weld I assume you're talking about the black and white stuff that turns gray when you mix them. It may be a little hard to sand. That stuff is really hard. So don't overfill it too much. I think any spray paint will work. I used the basecoat from my car repair. Good luck!

Thanks. I wish I recorded actually spraying the paint on it. Really an afterthought and that totally blended the repair. Oh well. Thanks for watching and commenting!

@@jayt2473 thanks very much. Just deleted what I wrote first cause it turns out it was exactly the same as my response to the other comment. At least I’m consistent.

Genius do you think you could re laminate a complete board
@Samlol23_drrich10 ай бұрын
Thanks. The answer is probably not. The reason is the same reason dental fillings fall out and break. In reality this is almost exactly like my real day job- dentistry. Making it look good is one thing. But like a filling, the repair has to stick and function in all temperatures and under the stress of riding, flexing etc. if the epoxy bonded to the underlying material (I think wood) and sides (maybe fiberglass) of the surrounding material, it will work. It’s gotta expand and contract at a similar rate as the temp changes. The smaller the flex the better the chance of sticking. Thanks for commenting and making me think about it. Cheers!

Perhaps a small cut out layer of fiberglass would do it along with the epoxy. I’m looking at surf products like super sap epoxy resin and glass cloth to do a similar repair. Not sure if I’m crazy thinking I could sub some surf repair stuff. Fiber glass surfboards can flex a little … idk 🤷♂️ 🎉
