How does one control speed whilst carving? I feel like I continue to gain speed and have to constantly speed check or cut across the slope to slow down.

I have the issue for heel to toe where I swing my back foot out instead of a smooth turn. Not sure what i should do to correct it.

I'm a beginner so take what I'm saying with a pinch of salt, but I've seen pros talk about how the usual cause for that is counter-rotation, i.e. your torso is rotating contrary to your legs. I did that at one point and started keeping my hips aligned with my shoulders and that problem largely went away.

If you are at the point of at least sometimes carving, it might be that you are still concentrating on the front foot and forgetting the back. So when you go toe, also get some weight on the back foot and bend the back knee right after you bend the front knee. And of course trying to bring the hips over the toe-edge, not hinging at the waist.

When going from toe to heel just when I switch edges I can feel my back foot catching slightly almost every time, but I dont know how to lift it up because then I feel like I’ll fall over. Could you possibly explain when and how exactly to deal with the weight on the back foot?

instead of lifting your back foot up you could try putting more pressure on your front foot or leaning your shoulders into the turn, sometimes the back foot drag comes for me from not having my body fully into the turn 😁

If you want to learn how to turn properly then watch videos by a fully qualified snowboard instructor - Malcolm Moore's one of the best, and really breaks down what you need to do. Go check out his videos.
