He wanted 2 forms of income from Louie and Franklin not considering other outcomes because of how much he underestimates them and because he believes he has power over Franklin and Louie right now. So having Franklin leave without him having anything to say about it hurt his pride or his power over him and even gained a lot of jealousy when he learned about all of franklins success like a wife, a baby, all the money you can have in the world so he stole all his money to show that he had power over him and it wasn’t the other way around. Teddy also tries to replicate Franklin when he’s in the mansion with his girlfriend making use of the money without being happy about it. Where as Franklin has drive and now he killed the only person teddy really wanted to get admiration from.
