Wonderful wonderland video. Thank you for the terrific tips, great composition, and the most important lesson for me: when to stop painting. I want to add more and lifting off the tape is like ripping off a bandage. 🤣

Thank you for saving me. Rescue kitty got spayed and has decided we'll be up Alllllll night. My favorites are the 1st (dig on the cool foreground & browns just above and the fence line.) and 3rd (really starting to like this "shadow first" method).

Great job! I've been wanting to try out this sketchbook. I'm working in a stillman and birn one that's got grey, black, and tan paper all in one and it's been challenging but alot of fun so this video is perfect timing for me. Thanks for another wonderful video! Much love from Nashville. 👍😸

Hullo Sarah, I do like these toned papers but most often it is found in sketchbook form. Have you tried any larger papers? I was looking at BFK Rives Printmaking Papers and they have several weights, sizes and tones, have you tried them? Perhaps another brand? I have some smaller samples of Shizen and Fabriano Tiziano Papers. I got these for soft pastels they have a wide range of colors and add some texture with clear gesso and if I need more texture, I have grit in the form of Pumice I can add to the gesso before application! Sorry that is waaaay of topic, but it is paper and I am wondering what other types you have tried with gouache and watercolors. I am still looking through your videos just not having the best of luck so far. Still enjoying your other content full videos, so Thanks!

Useful demo, as always. I’m wanting to try gouache on toned paper. I’m guessing you find the 200gsm weight ok for gouache. I’ve been using the Strathmore 300gsm cold press sketchbook which is really nice to work on with just a bit of texture to it, so can do dry brush as well.

I paint on 90lb beige paper too and it's "fine" - I'm just more conscious of how much water I use. But it's easy enough to flatten
@muskndusk3 жыл бұрын
To mix true greens it's best to use a cool blue, such as Prussian or Cerulean. Ultramarine is too warm, but makes good purples if mixed with a cool red such as alizarin. The selection used in this video won't make good clear greens or purples, but muddy ones.
@SarahBurnsStudio3 жыл бұрын
That wasn't the point of this demo. It was to discuss warm vs cool, based on my selections. Its always relative.

which sketchbooks do you use? i can see that your sketchbooks dont warp when you paint, but i dont think you list what kinds you use.. whatcha say? which do you prefer?

In the description there is a link for my supplies and I have different sketchbooks in each medium, mostly all are heavier than 90lb
