I learnt to fly fish 35 years ago in the Snowy's. Started with a 3 day course based at Kanchoban. Over the next 15 years explored the snowys and Tasmania for trout fishing options. Rivers are my favourite. My most memorable, adventurous and productive visits were to the upper Tooma, Bidgee, Eucumbene and Thredbo rivers. Also around Brindabella close to my previous base in Canberra. Love it!

Been getting some good Rainbows just out of Canberra this year. Many fish in the high 40 and 50s. The cool summers and wet seasons the last couple of years have been great for our rivers.

Good to see an increasing amount of Australian content. This is a nice piece to promote fly fishing. The wet weather has allowed for some great summer fishing over past two years.

Thanks Ian! Yes I agree it’s good that there’s more Aussie fly fishing content happening now, the sport is growing again which is great. :)

All types of fishing have their merits, but it doesn’t get any better than fly fishing in the Snowys. Nothing compares. Thanks for the great vid guys. Felt like I was right there with you 👍

Euro nymphing is one of my favorite forms of fly fishing, and extremely effective too! Epic video!

Thanks Evan! Yes it sure is fun and so effective, by far the most effective technique in a majority of river situations I reckon. :)

Lovely Steve. Captivating country, stream and small line fishing. You said something interesting but very salient. Fishing one fly = less change of snagging the other hook in the fight. While I feel it is kind of like an apprenticeship in casting to master multiple flies, it can come at a cost in weedy, snaggy water sometimes. I often use 2 hooks in luderick fishing the salt when they are finicky but often it's the free hook that snags and loses you the fish.
@PeachyFlyFishing2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Keith! Yes so true mate, I feel like especially in euro nymphing people tend to automatically default to 2 flies, but there are so many situations where 1 fly just works better. It depends on a range of factors, there are pros and cons to both single and double rigs. Thanks for watching mate, hope you have a great Christmas! :)

Thanks! I was fishing the 10’ 2 weight Contact 2 that day. I thought I might switch over to dry fly and the 10’ does that a bit better than the 10’9” I find. :)

do you have a video explaining your euro nymphing setup?

Hi, I don’t actually, I probably should do that! In this one I was fishing a 10’ #2 wt T&T Contact 2, leader was 10’ of 0.18 Sempe green, 4’ of 4X Rio bicolour sighter to the tippet ring, then 6’ of 6.5x Trouthunter fluorocarbon for the tippet. :)

What rod/reel are u using?
@PeachyFlyFishing Жыл бұрын
For nymphing I’m using a T&T Contact II 10’ #2wt rod with a Sage ESN reel. Dry Fly I borrowed Jared’s rod which is a Sage R8 9’ #5wt and I believe his reel is an Abel but I’m not sure which model. :)

Lovely video but so many ads. Appx every 3 minutes there is up to 30secs of adverts. This is the first of your vids I’ve seen. Will check out others too but if the ratio of ads to content remains this high I can’t subscribe. Hopefully constructive feedback.
@PeachyFlyFishing Жыл бұрын
Ah, thanks for that! Unfortunately I don’t control when the ads appear or how often, that’s KZbin that decides. But maybe there’s something in my settings that’s affecting it, I’ll check it out. Thanks for the feedback!
@CreativePhotoWS Жыл бұрын
@@PeachyFlyFishing thanks for the prompt reply. Appreciated. Yeah you can set frequency of ads and then it’s all out of your control :) I have no issue watching a few ads and hope that puts a few cents in your account. Again, the content is very good. Good camera angles and most importantly excellent sound.

Another enjoyable one Steve, thanks for sharing. Your mate's phone wasn't a red one was it? My young bloke found one on the Yarrongabilly last week. Still works but has been locked and shut down by the owner. Must be a few bouncing around out there, I'm waiting to drop mine in a river instead of my pocket! Some lovely country there, be nice if the water holds up for a few seasons. Cheers PP

Haha! No I think it must have been a different phone mate, but thanks! Yeah beautiful country, I hope it holds up too, I think it should be good for at least another year or two, let’s hope! :)
