Join me for some dry fly fishing and euro nymphing for wild brown trout in North East Victoria, Australia on a stunning trout stream. I wanted to do a video showing more thoroughly working a short stretch of river, searching all the different types of water and trying to identify where the trout might be holding.

What a superb video. When I dream of fly fishing, this is it. Something purely magical about this water. Magnificent Peachy. ( Sure ain’t ‘soulless’ huh 😉).

@@PeachyFlyFishing treasure! Just watching your moves….do you water load your nymphing rod much? I’m always after fresh ideas and have been giving Josh Millers style a bit of a run ( he calls it the ‘frisbee’ and ‘pendulum’ ). Finding it really good in terms of consistent and fine accuracy ( probably more suited to tighter and more overgrown water than you were fishing). Good stuff! Just love it!

@anthonyclark6118 yes I have been using water loads more lately, we had a couple of members of the Spanish team over here a few months ago doing some coaching for us, and they use water loads quite a lot. It’s a little slower to set up, but great for accuracy, distance and control. I love it!

Perfect video to watch on a rainy morning in Sydney - production quality is off the charts Steve - thanks again for taking us along on your journey - I learnt a lot - thanks for explaining your methodical approach - far less chuck-and-hope (my preferred approach with a dry-dropper rig)…

Thanks Rob! Glad you enjoyed it mate. Yes I like to try to analyse the water and predict where the fish will be as much as possible! :)

Beautifully filmed Mr. P. Such a great area. Always amazes me how youtubers get the shots. Cheers PP

Ah thanks so much PP, yes it's an amazing area down there. I've been trying to train myself to take just an extra 10 seconds or so to frame a shot nicely...sometimes I remember to do it! 😆

Haha, thanks bud! I have shot a couple recently back on the smaller action cameras again, though the quality of those cameras has improved too. Love shooting on the big camera, the image quality is just gorgeous, but it's not practical for every location or type of video....at least until I can afford a full time camera crew! 🤣

@@PeachyFlyFishing I also happened to notice how the camera angles improve in school holidays… any coincidence? 😂

Hey Steve! What? No crazy glasses this time? 🤓 Really enjoyed your dissection of this gorgeous river. It certainly looked very fishy.

Hahaha! I think I may have retired the crazy glasses from the videos at least, unless they make a return by popular demand! 😂 Thanks mate, that was a really nice trip, look forward to the next one! :)

Well done Steve. Your 'art', in all its various forms, has grown into and expanded into something sublime. Loving your work and more power to you mate. Not bad, not bad at all for 'cack-hander'. 🤣🤣🤣 Sometimes, I just can't help myself. Keep it going . . . For when you are next there, keep in mind that (at 34.25) in those grasses behind you near the short shrubby bush, is the regular haunt of one of our red bellied black friends. He's often there curled up next to a rock.

I'm unsure Steve. For all the time I've been eligible, I've yet to compete in a competition. There's no explanation as for why not. Maybe I should . . . 'just do it.' That, or do the controller thing again.

Lovely video. How do you put slack into your cast. TIA
@PeachyFlyFishing
@PeachyFlyFishing 7 ай бұрын
Thanks Martin! Putting slack into casts, that’s a tricky thing to do well. Very long leaders (18-20 feet), ending in very fine tippet (usually 7x depending on the size of the fly) so that the leader does not fully transmit the power to the fly. Then it’s down to casting techniques, not overpowering the delivery casts, negative curve casts, and angling the cast down to cast part of the leader on to the water first, so that the final part of the tippet collapses. It’s a little hard to describe in words, but I hope that is helpful. :)

Thanks bud! Don’t know why the rainbows all disappeared out of the main river that week. They were still in the side streams but none in the main river, weird….

Great demonstrations thanks Steve. Fairly new to nymphing. What sort of paint marker are you using and where would I get some?
