I was suprised to see a super long monologue but they had to compress an entire comic book story arc in 6 episodes and had to close the story. Messy but it wasnt a turn off for me. As for "truth" hard to say since the anime went beyond the comic itself. I'm guessing the villain is lying but not all of it was a lie.

I was kinda bummed the Emissary didn't play a larger role in the story, since she was my favorite character - but then, her whole chill persona is why she's my favorite. She just does her job, without getting involved in everyone's personal drama or power plays. I respect that. Plus, she looks cool.

The red shirt is " Jimmy Trese " The priest is " Father Matt " The guy with the hat is " Carlos Trese " The Guy with glasses at the right beside Hank is " Professor Rick " (( The siblings can be found in the Trese Comics )) In the ending scene at the harbour that was an Jiangshi an Chinese Folklore Vampire hopping zombie that eats humans at end and for me that was not Alexandra's Twin Sinag but let's hope to wait for Season Two of Trese

In the comic series, it was Alexander Trese, Alexandra's grandfather who set up the Council. Yes, the other men at the Balete Tree were Alexandra's four brothers (they're alive still), including her grandfather.

Your guesses for the Trese brothers are correct! haha Jonathan "Jimmy" Trese, the one wearing a red shirt, (looks ready to rob a bank) really is a thief! He steals artworks and historical artifacts. You're also right with the one wearing glasses beside Jimmy. That's Fr. Matthias Trese. He's an exorcist. The one you described as a warrior is Carlos Trese, the eldest. He's a fierce warrior known as the Verdugo (executioner). Creatures of the underworld fear him. The man beside him (salaryman) is Enrique "Rick" Trese. He's a professor of history and antiquities.

As a graphic novel reader, there are things that got changed from the comics especially the last two episodes. Anyway, thanks for reacting, Vy! . . . . . . . . . . . . . GRAPHIC NOVELS SPOILERS and CHANGES: Talagbusao wasn't doing the long "Big Bad" exposition. Before the Trials, Alex's grandfather and her father were the one who told Alex what happened to her twin sister and her destiny. Anton didn't alter any prophecies. Capt. Guerrero wasn't killed. The Jiangshi (Chinese Zombie) on the mid-credits scene is an original character for the anime.

As for Trese, even though it was super exposition heavy by the villain I actually enjoyed the episode. The series was a blast and I am expecting/hoping Netflix greenlights s2. I think only the verdugo has his own komiks for now, the priest will have one soon. If Alex’ story was gruesome, i think the eldest’s story was much more since he was born to, you know

The Verdugo (im fanboying here) is like aswang-killing machine and its like his destiny after wounding a manananggal (fetus-eating aswang) while he was still in his womb (yeah, pure badassery before birth), the professor is like their treasure trove of ancient knowledge and the exorcist, well, Constantine minus action plus leadership I guess.

I read this theory somewhere that Sinag(alex's twin) is the one who came out of the Balete Tree and not Alexandra that's why she said "Where home Alex" at the end. I haven't read the comics so I don't know if there's truth to that.

i also haven't read the komiks but from the trese family tree vid i watched here on youtube, sinag did actually die in the komiks though their mother did have a vision (since their mother is a babaylan) and she saw sinag's future if she didn't die (but she did)

I want to see this theory came true about Alexandra's sister that Anton just seals Alexandra's sister into the dagger like the naruto sealing technique, because killing is just too much burden and cruelty for a father to deal with, although sealing is somewhat bad but not too bad and because of that, I want to have a happy reunion between the bloodlines of trese in the season 2, that could be awesome.

I don’t really believe what talagbusao, there is truth in there but also he must have mixed it with lies, if anton is that cruel to kill sinag when she was a baby he would not even accept talagbusao’s children who is already older by say age 8-10 yrs old and killed them off, instead he adopted them and raised them as part of the family And we don’t really see the brothers as i read somewhere they have their own stories In the post credits, my guess is that their next case in hopefully in season 2 the location would be in binondo, the oldest chinatown in the world also found in the Philippines

the most shocking is when Anton order the council to kill the other group (mostly the aswangs) but that what should Anton have done from the start tho aswangs are human eaters what is Anton thinking when he let those monsters be part of the council, they ate humans that what aswangs do!
