I did that “fly first” business the first time I pitched my Scorpion 3, and never did it again. Once it’s in, you can pitch it in the rain, snow, whatever and create a dry space to get into. It impressed me so much I bought a Snugpak Cave for my son and I to take backpacking.

I've had one for about two years now and have used it in all sorts of conditions in the Pacific Northwest. I've tested it in high winds, heavy rains, and in winter conditions. It's well made and has performed flawlessly with no leakage, condensation, or problems with snow load. I leave the two parts attached as it makes setup easier. I can set it up in under five minutes. I would recommend this tent to anyone needing a lightweight, four season, two person, tent.

Hi, can you give any info on the inner space? I'm 6'4 and have seen numerous reviews saying it's not suited for anyone above 6ft, which seems ridiculous given the 205cm inner length. I know the foot end is lower so will likely have feet pushing into inner, but this doesn't matter as long as it's not touching the outer. I've also seen people say there's not room for two people? Is this true or just typical people being princessy over necessary space?
@dancancade71012 жыл бұрын
@@elliottwright3772 I'm only 5'7" so I don't have an issue, but at 6'4" you might find it a bit tight. I've found it to be wide enough for two camping mattresses, but again it might be a little tight for two larger people. I'm normally solo with my 100 lb mastiff/pitty cross and there's room for both of us.

Had mine a few years now - amazing tent. Torrential rain in Snowdonia - no problem. Its a clever design and has really good headroom for sitting upright at the zip end. Personally the 1 man coffin like tents are too claustrophobic for me and the comfort of knowing you can keep your gear inside is worth it. Lastly, you can cook safely in the 'porch bit' while staying in the tent.

This is a really awesome tent, I love using mine. It does have long pockets on the inside and three great vents which have always provided great ventilation. 10 mins possibly or less. Its as simple and shoving the poles thru, hooking them, then clipping the inner inside. :)

It sounds good in theory with the fly up first but you are going to get soaked rolling around on the ground setting it up. I just lay the fly over my tent when I set it up in the rain to keep it dry. It looks like a good tent though I'm just not sold on it being better than a standard tent is all.
@kullcraven7 жыл бұрын
It all depends on what ya like, tho you can lay the inner in and lay on that, as you set it up. also 90% of the time you set up before a storm. Its not better , its just different. I like it tho for that option. :)

Hi Wayne, great vid! I've been looking at this tent myself for my shelter gear, so it's nice to see someone local do a review for our area. One thing I noticed with your setup, and it may make your life easier in the future, the kink in the two green poles, is supposed to go to the front, to set the angle for your door (as per the instructions from Snugpak site www.snugpak.com/outdoor/scorpion-2# ) That would be why you were having a bit of a struggle getting the poles to lock on those two front pieces, and may make things easier for you in the future. Keep up the awesome reviews...I've actually decided more than one purchase I was hemming and hawing on, based on your reviews, so thank you!
@kullcraven7 жыл бұрын
Thanks , and glad you enjoyed the review. The poles are meant to be in the back, to raise the back up. As well they are bent like that so one can run under the other. I assume you was looking at the drawings, and it looks like the bends are in the front. well the drawings are not the poles, they dont attach to the front porch section at all. I can see the confusion tho. I have actually watched a video where someone put the poles with the bends in the front and it wouldnt work and he had to reverse it, so he said. I did leave the inner part attached, so next time I set it up, all i have to do is put the poles in and stand it up :)
