Honestly the movies Snyder made feels like they should be at the end of a franchise not the beginning. We should have had a bright hopeful movie whit superman then a slightly darker one whit a younger batman then a Wonder Woman movie a flash and so on then a justice league after a JS two and a second flash batman and superman movie between a year after that I would loved to see a B vs S and sometime after that flashpoint

Late to the discussion. But I'd say Hack Snyder would be perfect architect if any studio decided to make a Worm cinematic universe. Considering Worm's story pretty much follows The Watchman's footstep and show what a realistic world with super power (if you ignore the alien space whale giving people parasites which give them super power part) would end up looking. The main character Taylor is every bit the hopeful super hero model one should look up to in a super hero world like Superman and Spiderman. But in worm, she just get her teeth kicked all over the floor not by some super powered shmuck in a Halloween suit (got to love The Comedian as a character even if he's an asshole), but by real life and societal problems that only get exaggerated when super power get thrown in.

I mean .. ZSJL was a success. Any type of numbers you saw from online articles was just HBO Max numbers. Anybody outside America doesn't have Max and the film was even bigger OUTSIDE the US. EVEN SO, the film did awesome. But there really is no convincing ZS haters. I probably just wasted my breath. *Also, I'm not a ZS fan 'cultist' like a lot of people are. My issue with the Snyderverse is how they seam to ve eternally going 'We're not your fathers *Insert hero name here*' but also only make sense if you've read/seen said fathers material. For example the Robin suit in BvS: Yes I know who Jason Todd is, I know the joker killed Batmans second Robin. But does the general audiance? Would they even guess it was Robin with how colourless the suit is? Does Batman come across like he's lost an adopted son? Was it even Jason Todd? We don't know because the film never tells us, why is the suit even in the film? The Joker isn't in BvS! And they don't explain what it meant to Bruce, fans who know the context just have to bridge th gap themselves How it could work in a better cinematic Universe film series, put the suit in the background of film one, don't bring it up just have it there, then in film 2 introduce Tim Drake and make the villian the Joker and dice into how it effected Bruce. But no, thr shits there to be a thing you remember and all the snyderverse movies are like this.

I hate most of what Snyder did with the DC characters, but people tend to overlook how Christopher Nolan was also responsible for Man of Steel. The script was finished when Snyder was hired to direct the movie and, as far as I know, the only thing he changed was the ending, so the movie would be boring AF anyway. Maybe it would have worst designs and fight scenes, since Snyder is great at putting those things together.

What makes Injustice Superman great is that he had a choice. He chose to become a dictator he chose to kill The Joker instead of mourning the loss of Lois Lane and his unborn child. But Snyder wanted Darkseid to force Superman to become evil which completely diminishes what Superman represents. Superman would never submit to Darkseid all willy-nilly.

I just dont agree with the synderverse representations of these heroes. It was stupid and shortsighted of synder to corrupt them so. His rebel moon is him being on his own and how horrid his writing was. The synderbros believe we dont get "synder's genius and vision" but yet we do. Its shallow and weak performative nonsense with no real thought behind who the characters were. If synder wanted to deconstruct heroes, by all means do his own stuff and that might have worked. Upsets me even more when his supporters claim he’s one of the best visual directors ever, it just screams to me that they haven’t seen much outside mainstream flicks. As grim as the Dark Knight Returns is, there's still glimmers of hope or optimism with Robin appearing, him saving people, civilians feeling hopeful again when Batman arrives, Batman preventing chaos and restoring order in Gotham when the blackout happens and Batman still has his moral code still and strives to do good, which is to fight crime and corruption that contributed to the societal decay in Gotham whilst BvS Batman has no morals and is driven by fear of superpowers and rage

I don't think it's fair to call Wonder Woman a Zack Snyderverse film since it was written by Geoff Johns who wrote all the best DCEU movies like Aquaman and Shazam and probably could have made their sequels just as good had the directors and the studio not taken over so much control of those projects and ruined them

@@formerfilmstudent8349 you give a truly incredible and in-depth dissertation of the Snyderverse and I agree with almost everything you say, but you don't really get into a lot of the behind-the-scenes Studio drama that was going on and how they initially declared that their comic Universe would be free of jokes and be ultra serious and dark but after the critical and Commercial underperformance of Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad, they change their minds going forward and wanted their movies to be more like the MCU with jokes and some light-hearted moments and Wonder Woman was basically the first movie in their plans that accomplished this. While the Zack Snyder movies had a more David Goyer feel to them because he actually co-wrote most of them, Geoff Johns took over for the writing of the next phase of the DCEU and his style is more like Joss Whedon's, and that is why Wonder Woman definitely had a lot more jokes and lighthearted moments then everything that came before it. But like I said, this was a great video with a lot of incredible points that I completely agree with and you pretty much hit on all the major reasons why ultimately the DCEU is a failure.

Ben Affleck’s Batman was inspired by The Dark Knight Returns. An older, disillusioned, world weary hero who’s been The Dark Knight for 20 years and is beyond his glory days and is thinking “Whats the point?” The city is scared of him, criminals are scared of him, his friends are dead because of him and it’s been one long dowsed spiral pushing him closer and closer to the edge. Bottom Line: “Batfleck” is a Batman who lived long enough to see himself become the villain.

I appreciate that you didn't take this as a dump on Whedon vamp. People seem to forget that WB brought him in and had him add his "thing" to Justice League. It's not so much "Josstice League" as it is "Corporate Interference: The Movie". Joss was a hired gun, doing the bidding of the C-Suite types. Whedon has his own issues, but ultimately that has nothing to do with Justice League. As far as Zack's version...well...it might as well be called "Focus Group: The Movie". I don't believe that was Snyder's vision, so much as it's a compilation of fixes for all the things people hated about the theatrical cut. It was a fanboy special. I refuse to discuss The Flash. I don't believe in the "Speedforce" or "speedsters" as presented by DC 😁

Say what you want about Snyder, but a HUGE part about how you are saying he "rushes into it" was the higher ups forcing it because they wanted to copy Marvel SOOO bad and get that MCU money. So much of what failed in the DCEU was them trying to copy Marvel, Snyder trying to do a dark tone and WB wanting to change the tone and then finally being able to fully change the tone when Zack had to leave JL. They even messed up the ending of WW, which I really liked but the end part was the weakest part and it was shoved in because minds were changed on whether Ares would be a factor or not.

Snyder was a solid choice for Man of Steel and the DCEU and able to deliver a movie, that was divisive and provoking to some extend. He was a bad choice as the architect of the DECU overall and should´ve been a creative advisor, visual supervisor and storyboard artist. I don´t see his strength in writing and directing, but in visual language, visual directing and cinematography. There was a lot of money available at WB DC, as they wanted to catch up with Disney Marvel, but a combination of bad management in combination with the wrong captain sunk the ship before it could reach its first harbor.

Well I can see the way you have no idea what you're talking about seeing as it wasn't Zack Snyder's ideal to rush his movies but the people at the top of Warner Brothers who wanted to get their Christmas bonuses who pushed to have everything catch up to the MCU because they were jealous and wanted that money right away and therefore they push Zack Snyder to keep going Josh Whedon to try to turn it into the Avengers 2.0 and Zack Snyder have nothing to do with it. He did not want to go from Man of Steel right into Justice League and he didn't want to make Batman versus Superman into what it was but the people at the top demanded it goes that fast so don't put that all on Zack Snyder when it was literally everyone at the top of Warner Brothers that get all of it

I don’t care what anyone says Man of Steel is awesome, it presented a more human and vulnerable Superman than we’ve had in recent years. That film works for me because Zack Snyder wasn’t interested in pleasing the fans, it was interested in taking Superman to new places. If by by calling Wonder Woman bright and colourful you mean it looks bland and like every other superhero film, then I agree. The reason MoS and BvS has desaturated colours is because they’re made by someone with his own style of directing, they weren’t all colourful and boring, they were daring, they took chances, they had they’re own style that’s what all the best superhero movies have. Also, Wonder Woman is so not more charming and likeable than Superman. If you think Gal Gadot isn’t the best actress but works really in the Wonder Woman solo film, that’s still not a particularly high bar.

Ive zero interest in what gunn does. All of the recent movies have turned out to be rancid. I dont think gunn can do it. It takes more then one person to make a movie. Gunn alonse cant do it.

He’s not alone thankfully. It seems from what I’ve read him and a handful of writers he selected sat down and really hammered out all the announced projects. Not only the individual shows and films but the overarching story of Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters. Just the idea that there is a plan, and it’s not one guy leading the whole thing like Snyder. An actual collection of creatives working in tandem to tell a story

I much prefer the Snyderverse and the DCEU decline when they moved away from it. Too bad the Gunnverse will fail like the Hamadaverse.

That remains to be seen, what we know for sure is that the Snyderverse was a critical failure with both critics and general audiences. Good moments, but ultimately trash. Good things it’s been scrapped and rebooted. Hopefully there are better days ahead

@@randynguyen9778 I don’t think they were really saving DC tho. They constantly received poor critical reception even at times poor audience reviews. And despite being profitable were not making the kind of money that WB wanted. Between bad reviews and underperforming box office numbers they definitely are a failure as a whole. Personal opinions aside.

@@formerfilmstudent8349 Well to be fair it was mostly due the studio who believe the negative talk about the Snyderverse. If films didn't make the money from what the studio wanted then why is James Gunn in charge The Suicide Squad did horrible numbers.
@formerfilmstudent8349
@formerfilmstudent8349 Жыл бұрын
@@randynguyen9778 the suicide squad came out at the height of covid when theatres were doing poorly in general. Nothing was making money. Also I don’t doubt the incredibly poor reception of David Ayer’s suicide squad had an impact. Who wants to see a sequel to a universally panned film? Review wise though Gunn’s suicide squad is one of the highest rated in all of the DCEU. And his 3 guardians films are way way better received than most DC films. I do agree the studio did interfere and rush Snyder, but his flaws as a filmmaker, lack of understanding of the characters, and inability to craft a cohesive story in a normal runtime without some long winded directors cut were also instrumental in the failure of the DCEU

There is no marvel formula and marvel isnt a comedy. Even if it was, that’s not a bad thing.
@formerfilmstudent8349

Idk most of the complaints about the MCU especially phase 2-3 were that the formula was repetitive and all the films looked and felt the same. Same visual styles, shot on the same cameras, same flat color grading palette, and the same story structure for a lot of the films. Also being a comedy isn’t bad, but thor love and thunder sacrificed story and character for silly jokes. Same with ant man quantumania. To each their own tho

Personally you can do a team up movie early if the story is good but the foundation was unsustainable as a lasting universe. Especially when you kill off the face of the universe in his second appearance
@SuperAz1981

And further it is getting the most criticism for not copying the MCU formula. A DC shared universe is damned if you damned if you don't because of how long it took them to get started in the first place. They had been trying to do a Superman Batman team up and JL movie since the 90s and they could never make it work
