For real though, it's a goddamn shame the algo wants things to be so "same-y" and fitting in a box instead of letting us users decide the type and quality of content we want to watch so content creators can do what they want and we can opt-in to different things.

I am so, so furious at algorithms having such a drastic impact on my favorite things. Like, no exaggeration, the entire OX network could be Show Of The Weekend, and I would be delighted. It is my absolute favorite thing on KZbin and has been for years now. And I feel like it has to go away for stupid reasons that are entirely out of Luke and Ellen's hands. I hate it so much.

As someone who probably has ADD and likes randomness, I hate that so many of my favorite youtubers have slimmed down their content or stopped making the more random videos because of "the algorithm". The fact that "the algorithm" hurts people who put out more content vs less but more specific content, is so backwards. If I ever meet this Al Gorithm, I will give them what for.

If it helps, I don't think SotWe is really "going away", more like it's taking a different form and dropping the name. The core content, Luke and Ellen making jokes and talking about whatever they like, is still going to happen, just whenever they want it to now instead of specifically on weekends. It's more Show of the Weekend for your click!

I didn't stop watching SOTW because "the algorithm" stopped recommending it to me, I stopped watching SOTW because I gradually lost interest in watching Ellen and Luke mucking around. I'm a subscriber to the channel so it shows up on my subs page regardless of whether KZbin likes it or not.

(including Producer Jon :)) It saddens me how KZbin is so fickle these days, with creators being ultimately forced to create content that specifically caters to the KZbin algorithm, rather than create and upload content they are passionate about, but you lot figured out a loophole. Thanks for all the laughs and enjoyment over the years. Been watching since 2018 (was recommended an outsidebox "7 things" video on the side column of another channel's video, and then one of yours popped up on the side column of the outsidexbox one). Since I've started using KZbin more - I watch a variety of genres, some niche, some more "mainstream" - I've seen so much garbage and seen so many genuinely well written and produced videos either get driven off the platform by the algorhythm or have to settle for never being able to make it a job because what they could do with their content wasn't enough to allow them the growth necessary to make that step. And so many of them deserved to be able to do that, they were honest and dedicated. But no, malicious nonsense, gratuitously aggressive opinions, conspiracy theories and trash politics. Oh and don't get me started on robo-voice reddit videos or the absolutely WTF stuff that is people taking videos of crafts and baking and putting some truly creepy and sinister stories on them - aimed at CHILDREN. Apparently YT likes THOSE^

I just find it funny that it outlasted the core SOTW by a long time. The whole gag about the theme song was that it was a cruddy knockoff of SOTW's theme tune, which I haven't heard in ages now. Hope the rebranding experiment goes well!

It was from the KZbin library and is called World Map. I actually downloaded it and still have it as my alarm 🙈 (and, because my phone recognizes it as music, it occasionally plays when I listen to music offline🙃). I still like it.

​@@alexharrison2743I'd guess for similar reasons as SOTW-end changed originally and is ending now, not enough engagement/growth relative to the amount of work required to make the videos and there were new content styles they tried out during the pandemic that people enjoyed more like livestreams and the massive amount of oxventure stuff we got during that period that they realised was getting a much bigger response (and also perhaps because like said in this video it's easier to market something specific like that in a 150 character KZbin heading than a magazine style show)

I think I've mentioned it before, but since the return of SOTW after the pandemic I really miss the short overview at the beginning, where you guys talk about what you've been playing this week (same thing from the OG Show of the Week). I found so many gems, big and small titles, after all which I loved playing myself, because in Oxbox I found people from the same "tribe", cherishing and enjoying similar games/shows or movies like I do. I'd really love to see a small revival of that together with the Oxbox Crew! :) Despite all that: Avid viewer since 2018 - you guys got me through my studies, practical year, exams and my first years of proper "work". I regard it not as a departure, but rather a renovation of what we already know and love. Cheers and love from Germany :)

I can *vaguely* recall when it was called Show of the Weekend because OxBox did Show of the Week on Fridays, but all things change, and we'll survive this too :) But if we're being nostalgic: I work every Saturday morning, one of the most hectic days of my week. This show has often been my lunch break entertainment to help me unwind from all the aggravation, and I thank you folks for it!

I was actually just about to suggest this. A lot of channels that used to have regular shows that people loved but didn't do well with the algorithm either shifted them to another channel or put them as a patreon incentive. At least with the latter, it'll still be worth the time and labour to produce the show as they'd be able to earn some sort of income from it still.

I absolutely adore SOTWE and I completely understand the changes you're making. The insane amount of work you have all put into it over the years is so appreciated. Friday night and Saturday morning edits.🤯 So glad your taking steps to lessen the workload. If there's anything we can do to help the algorithm and views, please let us know. Not going to lie I shed some tears at the theme tune being played for the last time.😭 So many memories I will never forget, Like the time Luke quizzed Ellen on Donkey Kong characters and Ellen got every question wrong with increasing disbelief and annoyance.😂💜 But this is not the end, just a new beginning. Ever since I found you through souls academy mid pandemic have been absolutely amazed by your delivery and work ethic, specially when I checked the lists and saw for how long you had been doing SOTWE regularly. I'm surprised to hear from you guys that SoTW didn't help the algorithm, it's exactly what got me into the channel (Legit started watching Oxtra first) and also got two people into your channel by recommending it first. Saturdays were always my day off and it was indeed also my ritual to treat myself and go to a restaurant and watch you guys while I ate. Gonna miss the ritual but I'm happy that presh mems and shenanigans are here to stay! :)

Riding on the back of the Oxventure reboot announcement, the title set my heart racing. The SotW theme song Purge has helped me achieve calm. I love all the OXboxtra videos and, while change can be difficult to accept, it is a natural part of life. So please, OX, make the changes you need to and know that there will always be a faithful audience to watch what you make and change along with you! 💜

Pre-pandy, SOTW was my favourite thing either channel did, I loved the manic energy and the silly, childish nature of it. I can't imagine how many 'presh mems' that I will treasure from the show... But I'll love everything the five of you amazingly charismatic people make, and I just want you to make anything that works for you, that you find fun and that keeps you in jam and scones. "Which we all agreed, tasted strongly." Is a line that sticks in my head, but there are millions of them.

Sorry in advance for long soppy post: Ellen saying "everyone!" on the 20th play was UNNECESSARY I WAS SINGING FROM #1 ALL THE WAY THROUGH Show of the Weekend was indeed my one and only bit of routine on a Saturday and I loved it a whole lot - I did think with the steam deck video that maybe you'd accidentally posted it on the wrong day because it was pure sotwe energy. Screw the KZbin algorithm honestly it pushes extremist videos into people's feeds if they're not careful and casts aside gems like sotwe (though ironically it has recently been recommending a lot of previous sotwe videos to me) I have always sung along to the theme tune because it was a bright spot of happiness every week even if I was feeling low or unwell. Thank you for making the theme and the videos so much, I sometimes put the playlist on shuffle when I'm ill to cheer myself up. I appreciate you have to make business decisions and I fully support you in that, I'm also very happy that you are continuing the vibe in a different form, just as I appreciated the change post pandemic. The old videos with Ellen ranting about tomb raider and skits about Luke being trapped in the office over Christmas are all still there for us to enjoy and I know I will continue to rewatch them as time goes on. I hope we continue to see moments of "I'm a normal adult person doing normal adult things" and Producer Jon and Cameraman James popping up with their own comments (or thumbs 😂) in the new videos. I also hope these videos continue to be as fulfilling for you to make as they are fun for us to watch ❤ I would love an individual video of the theme tune if at all possible, so I can play it before watching the new videos? Whatever happens, show of the weekend has meant a lot to me and I will continue to get the theme stuck in my head every now and then. All I can say now at the end of this ridiculously long comment is HOOOONK 🪿🪿🪿

Always fearful when I see one of these videos pop up that it might be talking about either Ellen or Luke, even possibly both of them, leaving the channel. You both bring SO much joy and rediculousness....and that damn theme tune! Every time I hear it, it STICKS in my brain, and now I've heard it over 20 times in a row I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight LOL. But please know that we all love this channel and you two are the best.
