Nile Rodgers from the 70's group "Chic" loved this song and repurposed it and slightly changed a couple of chords, to create the baseline for the Nile Rodgers produced "Good Times' performed by Sister Sledge in 1979.

Freddie was a huge Opera fan, and fulfilled a dream dueting with Montserrat Cabelle on the song 'Barcelona', which was commissioned for the Olympics in Spain, it was a big hit, and even bigger after he passed. Will never forget the fountains show in Barcelona(during the Olympics). Like a firework display, to this song.

You have to see the making of "One Vision". It is a documentary where you can see how the composition and arrangement worked in the studio. You could see their great friendship and how much of a perfectionist Freddie was, and then "One Vision" live at Wembley 1986.

We ALL love Freddie! In the 80s, it didn't matter what walk of life you were taking, everyone loved and respected Freddie. That is why, in his tribute concerts, you see the entire spectrum of people perform & attend, paying their lasting respects to the wonderful Freddie. But, it isn't just in his passing that he received such outpouring if you look at his Aid concerts and those who maneuvered to play with him, just before him, just after him, to be associated as closely to him as they could manage, you also see the full spectrum of entertainers and people. This song was the anthem for every team event, every challenge accepted, every competition. It is a great example of May not demanding to be the front and center of the music, letting Deacon step forward into that role and shine. Yet, May uniquely injected his guitar's presence as an effects-generating instrument, much like guitarists in psychedelic Rock bands often did.

Hi Stacey greetings from England 🇬🇧 when Freddie passed away there was a Freddie Mercury Memorial Concert held at Wembley Stadium in April 1992 and this was the Stadium were Freddie gave his greatest ever performance. George Michael sang SOMEBODY TO LOVE as Lead singer with QUEEN at the memorial concert!!! Its an absolutely electric powerful performance from George Michael and an emotional tribute to Freddie and you really should check out this video!

Apparently, John Deacon was hanging out in the studio (not recording) with the band Chic for some time in the late 70s in which they recorded their song "Good Times." This inspired him to write a song that was more disco/funk oriented. Thus, Another One Bites The Dust. If you listen to each song, it is clear that Deacond was inspired by Chic, as their baselines share many similarities. Freddie sang this song so passionately in recording that his vocal cords bled. That's how much he believed in this song. Queen didn't necessarily think of this as a single, especially Roger Taylor, who detests funk music. It barely even made it on to their 1980 album "The Game." But after plenty of pestering from Michael Jackson, they released it. And whelp... that pestering paid off. AOBTD went on to be #1 for 3 weeks in the States & is Queen's best selling single. The success of this song was major inspiration for Queen's next album, "Hot Space," in 1982, & well as for MJ's album "Thriller."

John Deacon wrote this song, and the funny thing is that he wrote the fewest songs, yet.. the songs he did write are arguably some of the best songs they created. Now obviously all of them created A-MA-ZING songs, but Deacon just had a talent for writing incredibly catchy songs and also some of the most beautiful songs. Some of his greatest songs imho would be : Another one bites the dust, You're my best friend, Friends will be friends, Spread your wings, I want to break free, Pain is so close to pleasure, The miracle, Stone cold crazy, and One vision. (he wrote about 18 or 19 songs? let's round it up to 20 give or take 1 or 2 songs) Either way, you can't go wrong with Queen ;)

This song highlights what an overall talented group Queen was. Freddie, deservedly, gets a lot of attention for his amazing vocals and he was the primary writer for a healthy number of their songs but the rest of the group were talented musicians and, unlike a lot of bands/groups, they were very collaborative with each other and often worked together. The bass is great, the drums are great, the guitar is great. Brian May, the Guitarist, is literally a genius who designed and built his own guitar and holds a PhD in Astrophysics. The wonderful complexity of a lot of Queen songs stem from the fact that Mercury wrote almost exclusively on the piano, and since piano music is rather complicated to transcribe to other instruments, it created such unique sounds and melodies. Some songs I would recommend would be 'The Show Must Go On' written by Brian May about coping with the rapid, and tragic, deterioration of Freddie Mercury and how they were going to go on (it includes what I believe is the last recorded vocals by Freddie Mercury before he passed, for which Brian May wanted to rewrite it to make it easier for the very sick Mercury, but Freddie took a shot of vodka, said 'I've got this babe' and nailed the whole thing in a single take). For some from Brian May specifically I would recommend 'Too Much Love Will Kill You' and '39', the latter of which is literally a rock (with a strong folk vibe to it) song about the effects of General Relativity. The Game, the album this song comes from in 1980, was the first Queen album to utilize a synthesizer. Many other bands had been using them prior, but as I stated back then, when it came out, it still stands today that Queen used it correctly for their music. I always hated their use in music, and loved that Queen boasted "No Synthesizers" on their album sleeves until they broke down and did it right. By the way, Stacey if you're reading these, you should know that Freddie never took the music seriously. He had an attitude of just having fun and wanted his band mates and audience to have fun as well.

The best thing about Freddy isn't even his voice or his stage presence (which were both amazing)... It's his capacity to just pour everything he has into every word he sings. He holds nothing back, ever... there's not a moment, not a syllable sung in his entire catalogue where he's not giving 100% in the moment. That's where the energy and emotion all come from. He was just completely hooked into every song from beginning to end.

Another British singer/songwriter to check would be James Blunt, his lyrics and delivery hit differently and he makes you feel his songs. Some of the his most touching songs are Monsters, The Girl That Never Was, Dark Thought along with Carry You Home and Goodbye My Lover which you would need to see the music videos for them last 2, to fully understand what they are about. Nice. The bassline was written by Bernard Edwards of Chic in the song Good Times. John Deacon acknowledged that he borrowed heavily from it. Bernard’s riff is longer and is designed to be more interesting, John cut it down to bare essentials and arguably made it more impactful by its brevity.
