How do I give this a million likes?! Because you made it so clear and obvious what to do to create a magic loop and everyone else makes it look like esoteric knowledge hidden by the crochet gods. Thank you!
@reading.with.creepy.crawlies
@reading.with.creepy.crawlies 2 жыл бұрын
The old fashioned way IS esoteric in comparison! Securing the slipknot instead of crocheting around what will essentially become a slipknot is much more practical. It even controls how long the weaving end will be. Toni has the mechanical insight as well as the artistic flair for being a true designer. 👍🏻

I never understood the difference between a magic circle/loop and a slip knot. I’ve been told it’s so different that I just didn’t understand. But no, it’s legit just a slip knot! Like I use it all the darn time!! Thank you!!
@Darcy783
@Darcy783 2 жыл бұрын
There actually is a difference. What Toni makes is not really a magic ring. It's just a slip stitch.
@reading.with.creepy.crawlies
@reading.with.creepy.crawlies 2 жыл бұрын
The old school crochet die hards will argue that the stitches will lay out differently. I disagree. This close-up of closing the ring and weaving in ends should squelch any dispute over which way the loop is created making a difference: it doesn't.

I use a reversed slip knot - the ring gets smaller when you pull on the tail instead of pulling on the working strand.

Omg..I can’t thank your tutorial enough!!! I did a few amigurumi and I must have suffered a brain fog or something, no matter what I did I just can’t tighten the yarn for the magic ring! I watched so many KZbin videos on magic circle and followed the instructions but still couldn’t tighten the yarn so I decided to watch yours, your instructions is different from others but somehow it work for me. Suggestion for the next snack-sized bites video: weaving in ends. I have been crocheting for 50 years and STILL am not sure if there is an effective and efficient way to deal with weaving in ends that won't come undone if you're working in anything looser than sc. Which is why I avoid color work. If there is a good rule of thumb, I'd pay twice to see it!

Your smile makes the video start my favorite. 😁 I have made an old fashioned ring that is not made inside a slipknot like you do here. This is so EASY! I have made the classic kind for 45 years, and so it is not a struggle, that is, unless my arthritis gives me stiff and tender fingers. I have bookmarked under "crochet" and am so thankful for you Toni. Bless you and your talents 🙏 ❤

Hi From Redfern Sydney Down Under I recently returned to Crocheting after many yrs away from it.Because my soon to be 10yr old Granddaughter asked me to teach her to Crochet. I looked to find a tutorial how to teach kids to crochet. It I also found a plethora of KZbins were popping upon my site. I think the first KZbin was yours and I should of taken notice to this KZbin on how to do this but then I got waylaid with soo many ways to do the Magic Ring all of which I found confusing and difficult to do. I should of taken notice to you and saved myself with so much Frustration. To those who say yours is different that it’s just a slip knot … I say all magic rings start with a slip knot they just make it in a Convoluted Manner causing so much unnecessary frustration for beginners to achieve it. so Thanks ever so much TL for simplifying it for everyone. The making a knot at the end is also a Game Changer Too. 💜💜💜💜💜👍💡bulb Moment … lol …
