I spider-sat for a friend of mine last fall. It's fun to get to observe and care for someone else's tarantulas, especially if theyve got species that you don't have. I think my favorite tarantula I spider-sat for was the female Acanthoscuria musculosa (fingers crossed that she drops an egg sac before molting) cause it's such a beautiful and relatively uncommon species. It was only for like 2 weeks so I didn't have to feed the larger ones but I definitely enjoyed observing them. My livingroom was temporary taken over by sterilite containers though, lol. Also in hindsight I DEFINITELY should have put something on top of the balfouri communal because my friend recently had a Nhandu chromatus open and escape an identical container 😬 so I very easily could've had 3 balfouris running around my apartment Have fun spider sitting! Hopefully the dwarf species decides to grace us with an appearance if you do another feeding video.

You could just bake the hide at 250 degrees for 3 hours, let it cool off & return it to the cage. Why spend money?
@tarantulakat5 жыл бұрын
I guess but in my experience they just mold really bad. Cork bark doesn't, and is less expensive, so I just prefer it. Especially when the spiders make it a part of their enclosure and I have to go in and fight them for it lol

I think there are different colour forms of grammostola rosea too theres a pink one and a grey one this one looks more grey maybe? or is that whats possibly the two diff species rosea and porteri? idk. my rosea is small only 2cm and they grow v slowly but I think its more pinker. but then lotsve slings look a little bit pink anyway so I will have to wait to find out and wow did you see the new ceratogyrus spider that got discovered? its got a horn longer than its whole carapace weirdest spider of all o_0
@tarantulakat5 жыл бұрын
some people say all the color forms of Rose hairs are the same species, some say they are different. I think they're really the same, just different variations of reds and pinks .. but it's just my opinion d:

Do you consider getting a jumping spider? :) I think they're quite entertaining.
@tarantulakat5 жыл бұрын
somewhere right I did have one but they don’t live as long. She laid a sac but all the babies escaped. But don’t worry, she was a local species and I didn’t intend to keep them anyway lol
@somewhereright31605 жыл бұрын
@@tarantulakat Oh, really? How long do they live? Haha, they escaped? Sounds like they're not easy to hold in captivity, are they? I just filmed a tiny little jumper that was hanging out on my balcony the other day with a macro lense. It made all the details visible that you can't see with bare eyes and I found it quite interesting. Jumpers have funny movements. 😆

2 open enclosures with tarantulas you don't know on the floor next to each other? How irresonsible of you!!! You could have easily had a major disaster with someone else's tarantulas.
@tarantulakat5 жыл бұрын
Lol no. Not likely as long as you’re responsible :,)
@radwigs5 жыл бұрын
@@tarantulakat , you have some interesting information on your channel and I have subscribed for now but found it very ironic that you were cringing in your video critiquing the "3 Beginner Tarantula" video about him having two tarantulas out in the open close to each other. If either one of the Ts in this babysitting video of yours had bolted you would have had two Ts in the same enclosure. Just a really bad and irresponsible example to set for people watching your channel.
@tarantulakat5 жыл бұрын
Having two tarantulas out of their enclosures crawling all over someone vs having several enclosures open with the tarantulas in their burrows while feeding are two different things. I have to completely disagree with you. The rose hair wasn’t going anywhere, and if anyone bolted I would have had no issues catch cupping them before they ever got anywhere near each other. Maybe you would be uncomfortable doing it yourself, but personally I had 0 worries of anyone coming even close to each other in this situation as I had control.
