It's a nice throwback to the original Fatal Fury, 2 and 3, but I always like the character select screen from Real Bout: Fatal Fury, I really like how there was a image of the character you selected framed in shadows when you highlighted one, I also really liked the announcer chatter from Real Bout Special.

im GLAD that snk FINALLY figured out that they couldnt make a realistic graphics game like the horrendous previous kof and decided to invest on art direction instead of trying to get better graphics. fellas, as an art director for games, if you dont have a budget for a good realistic game, stylize it! you gonna get a better result and looks than trying to create something expensive and that requires a lot of work to achieve bare minimum.btw this looks gorgeous and waaaay better than previous attempts at a more realistic approach that felt flat, uninspired and boring. Its colorful, has its own identity and actually shows a greater care compared to their other titles. Good job to all the artists involved and the high ups that listened to the directors about visual language> realism

Should have done this (not exactly this but just the unique art direction idea) since KOF 14 because it could have saved SNK's reputation as a company of good artistic standards that only has low resources stopping them from doing great things (which really was the case in the 90s). But making KOF the way it's been done since 14 ruined the image of the company and the franchise.

@@carlosaugusto9821 its a shame , a shaaaaame let me tell you. I acquired recently a portable video game for emulation and started going back with snk titles. They were top pf the game with GORGEOUS sprites and design. The switch to 3d really hurt them cause they could not achieve what sf was doing in 4 with style and even worse with 5 with graphic fidelity. The result for kof 14 is one of the ugliest games in recent memory by a respected company, something that simply doesnt make sense when in early 2000’s kof animation team was even better than those on sf alpha and third strike. Some animations and direction on previous 2d kof are challeged by very few entries by capcom and other studios that died. I hope this game succeeds because we need a strong 2d fight investing one style to have a healthy competition and i really want see them succeeding

Max said this game is very mechanically dense and I say good. Every other modern fighting game is just AGGRESSIVE AGGRESSION RUSHDOWN RUSH IN OVERWHELM. Actual defense mechanics are refreshing.

From what i am seeing they want you to play cotw aggressively. Revs go up if you get hit, go down when you hit the opponent, walk/dash forward or jd.

I love the game's color, comic hit effects + background effect, and the cel shading, feels like it pops out their characters' attacks and gives readability on what's going on. The only thing I dislike is the background, the characters are comically cell shaded while the others look like they're from KoF XV.

I went to this booth with no expectations at EVO, but it ended up being my fav booth. Game felt really polished & satisfying to play. It especially helped that they gave us 15 minutes so we can actually start to figure things out. 2XKO was good, but everything is kind of a blur when you only get one game Really looking forward to this game's release, I'm hoping it becomes as popular as some of the other major fighting games

The key to this game at high level matches will be reliant on the defensive mechanics, cause even the meterless damage is too big, defend good and you're gold...taking into acount the overheat state too

Damn that looks good! I do wonder if the damage isn't too high though, one of the things I hate about watching Strive is how each game is basically just two combo's / interactions at the highest level. Too much damage. There were moments in this video where I felt the damage was too high.

That said, I appreciate QoL and accessibility features. Are the following in-game: - is there a 3-frame input buffer? - are there dp shortcuts, like forward, down-forward, forward? - is there a macro or shortcut for hops?
