I'm glad that this story, as dark as it is, doesn't go grimmdark. Like a "every part of society is bad and there's no hope" sort of deal. Many of the characters aren't evil but they've been dealt a bad hand because of their instincts, but despite that they try to be good people. One of my favorite scenes is when Panda doctor first meets Legosi and shows him the room of all the photos of his patients. All of them have severe regret of giving into their instinct and inflicted harm on themselves because people don't want to become murderers

There is a scene in Baki where the protagonist and antagonist have a meal of miso soup together in the middle of their death defying fight, with the power of their martial arts spirit alone. The power of their martial arts spirit is so strong that the *crowd around them* can eventually see the miso soup meal and see one of them flip an imaginary table. There's also a scene where that same protagonist, after being read a peace treaty with America because the entire nation would be beaten by his singular strength, tells Hillary Clinton (as in it is literally her) that if he felt like it he would be able to fuck her to near death. He says this as his gigantic glowing shaft is bursting out of his tights. Hillary blushes, wishes he would do so, but leaves the room soaked in sweat at the thought. *This is not a troll or fanfiction; these are two of the many insane stories in Baki.* Donald Trump comes in at one point too and also pisses his pants at said antagonist.

@bigPPprincess5 жыл бұрын
Spoiler warning. Legosi doesn't really care much about or for himself. He's suicidal, not just in that he might be clinically depressed but in his reckless actions and willingness to confront the world with violent justice (this is not a criticism of his actions, by the way). He hates the primal, carnivore side of him that he can't help but consider his "true self". When it doesn't have to be his "true self". Society and the fact that his instincts are tangibly potent influences are to blame for instilling this idea that all carnivores are destined to be monsters. Carnivores are entirely capable of not being violent towards herbivores, but it's hard to reconcile how common violent interactions can be. That needs to be a whole analysis in and of itself. I also to want say that I think Haru and Legosi have a toxic relationship. One that is totally fixable and potentially fulfilling and satisfying. Legosi loves Haru for two overlapping reasons, a third very complex reason, and a fourth very simple reason. Legosi loves herbivores to the point that people call him out on his "fetish" for them. Haru isn't just any herbivore, she's a herbivore completely willing to disregard the fact that Legosi is a carnivore. Something that he hates himself for. She. -clap- Accepts. -clap- Him. -clap- And in contrast, Legosi loves her in SPITE of her being a herbivore. He knows it's dangerous for her to be near him and he lives in constant fear that he one day eats her. He's willing to destroy himself physically to be with her, again, he's suicidal. Just consider, for a moment, how much stress he puts his body through being in such close proximity to a vulnerable herbivore and not following his instincts? It's not made super apparent through the manga since he's used to it. Nonetheless, I can't imagine it being easy on him. Legosi's lack of self-worth also plays into how much he gives in their relationship. Haru doesn't value herself very much either. She (used to) gives her body willingly to anybody who asks. This isn't bad because it's bad to be a slut (I don't tolerate slut-shaming). It's bad because she doesn't value herself in a relationship. So she's never given herself the chance to build strong ones. Which stunted her emotional maturity. So when someone comes around who actually truly loves her, she has no idea what to do! She's developing as a person, but she's still a bit incapable of putting as much into the relationship as a normal partner would. And in contrast, Legosi pours EVERYTHING HE HAS into their relationship. WAY MORE than what is healthy. Nearly everything he does is for her; to better understand her, to protect her, to potentially provide for her. Legosi loves her because that's what he subconsciously feels is the most worthy or genuinely good thing he can do. And lastly, to be frank, he wants to doink her. He is seriously physically and emotionally attracted to her. Haru is considered to be very attractive in their world; cute, beautiful, strong, and a herbivore. Legosi even directly states that if the roles were reversed he would have let Wolf-Haru up in his guts, day one. I also think that her being in love with Louis for a while let him develop emotions in a potent/accelerated environment. His positive emotions for Haru getting boosts of energy from the negative emotions caused by his jealousy towards Louis. This is all just my personal analysis of the story, though. So it's only my opinion.

@@bigPPprincess Spoilers in this reply too of course... . . . . . . Legosi calls himself out on the herbivore fetish after finding himself ogling Louis and wondering why herbivores are so beautiful. I suspect Louis doesn't know that Legosi figured out he had an herbivore fetish while ogling him, but it wouldn't change his answer anyway: Louis suggested Haru was just the first herbivore Legosi respected and so he fell for her. I like that explanation because it acknowledges Haru isn't Legosi's special "One True Love," but it also doesn't downplay that his feelings for her are serious either. I also love how Louis points out that even if Legosi is (by his own description) a perverted wolf whose true inspiration may have been raging hormones, it doesn't matter because it's what he's been doing that counts. I really hope the animé gets to cover the whole story. That scene (among many others) will be so surreal. Also, I think for most of the manga Legosi isn't struggling to stop himself from eating Haru. He trained extensively for that, and it's why he can resist the drug the street gang is peddling. The story also has its carnivores FAR more affected by instinct than real animals. That's not a criticism of it, but real animals aren't consumed by a constant lust to kill and eat. In fact, many carnivores don't even associate hunting and eating automatically and are taught by parents. It still makes an interesting story though. That said, it's still his biggest fear even if I doubt it's something he struggles with day to day.
@bigPPprincess5 жыл бұрын
@@zunnoab Spoopy warning. Thanks, I wasn't sure who it was that called him out on being a pervert but it makes perfect sense that the first one to do so was himself; he's overtly introspective. I was a bit hyperbolic in my description of his "carnivore struggle" but I do think the fact he had to literally torture himself to get to the level he is at with herbivores is a big deal. I do think though that the reason carnivores are depicted as super lascivious is because from a story-telling standpoint that is what's interesting to read. And normal carnivores have access to meat; it's not illegal or a taboo for them. While the carnivores in Beastars go years or even their entire lifetime without eating any meat. There's this deep-seated, icky, poorly hidden desperation in their society, that nobody wants to address.

And why I like the female characters
@thatsveryverysweetofyou90234 жыл бұрын
@Lil Van Damme I think it's a fair assessment to say that females often, or are likely more well-versed with words (descriptive at best) than most guys because guys are more than likely to be visual. And when I mean visual, you could say as an example, in a sexually mutual relationship, females like to get "woo"-ed with words while guys are simply satisfied to have their face sat on (or other parts depending on the guy). To put it into words, guys are more able to picture it which is more blatant. The author's development of the character is something I would never connect it to, but it does show in some pages of the manga the author being drawn in a short.

I want to explain on one of the parts on you explaining that Legosi is a "Big Dumb", he was putting on that pose when he was fighting Riz because for bears when you're showing your stomach that's a sign of being safe which is reserved for family and a lover. He's doing that to buy time. As for the part with the coffee, it is explained when the neighbor Sebun goes to his room while he's in meat withdraw he forgot about it the more he talks to her and he might've gotten occupied when he smell Haru and thought that she was going out with another guy. For the first one, just Haru wanting him to kiss her at a place with dead rabbits is a lot more confusing than him saying his bank account. But I love the manga a lot so I don't mind it, as for the anime I don't think that the CGI is choppy. I'm looking forward to the Gosha video, he's one of my favorites too.

I do think legosi is a airhead but he isn't just dumb. There is a method to his madness. With Haru he clearly states that he wants a relationship with her when he's financially and socially secure. He has a criminal record and he's broke. What kind of like would that be for her and the family they will have? He asked her to marry him to show how serious his attention are and says my beast instincts wont stop with a kiss. Looking at the life of his mother and her suffering, also at melon he's conscious of how interspecies marriages can be for the children. So he doesn't get tricked into letting Melon go, he was curious. He wanted to know how it was for him and how he turned into this murder. I think similar to the Panda, he has great empathy towards predators and would rather talk to his opponent and help them, then just kill them. He says himself if wasn't for Haru or grandfather i could of turned out just like them. However, that being said i really did love your assessment of the series and he encouraged be the read the actual manga. Which i was hooked and finished it all in one day. So thank you for amazing video. Now i'm going to watch the anime.

Just caught up with the whole manga series so far (finished Volume 16 @ Chapter 157), and I can definitely see Legosi being the kind of Dad that becomes super involved and embarrasses his kids a lot, but also has a "Papa Wolf is about to throw down" side if Haru and his kids are in danger (kinda similar to his grandpa, but I hope both Lugosi and Haru get the chance to be more loving and accepting of themselves as a species, depending on how the series continues). Also, I can definitely see Louis and Juno as a power couple (depending on how their society continues to address interspecies relationships).

10:23 whenever this happened I was probably equally confused as everyone but then realized. What if it was the poison of the kamado dragon part of him? Now thinking about it, it doesn’t make sense because because no other creature that he has fought has had that happen to them. But maybe it happened because the bear (deadass forgot his name) was going for his stomach and trying to get to his organs. And/or it happens when he’s about to die, kinda like a defensive mechanism. That’s the only thing I could’ve thought of at that scene.
