Just because the creator and main actress have their own political/social view, and rant about it all over TV and social media, doesn't mean they can't act professionally and create a good product that, while perhaps not completed divorced from their view, isn't consumed by it. I’m a HUGE fan of Star Wars and am old enough to remember when I the original films came out. I’m with a lot of people on the “agenda” part but not for the same reasons. I understand the push for rights and justice…but Star Wars, to me; was one of the few places that didn’t have those issues especially given the fact that a lot of the cast is not even human at all or are “humanoid.” This is the sad irony in all of this…the unjustified roping in of something that was innocent in the first place. I’ve always watched the movies and shows for the stories and lore with the innocence and wonderment of a child. I’ve never really cared about the gender, sexual orientation, or make up of the characters. I’ve just considered them sentient beings with personal stories that helped bring together what we all love…the Star Wars legacy. That is what’s being lost. A prime example is what the lady asked about C-3PO. Instead of asking him(or it, her?) how they want to be identified…she(the Showrunner) “assumed” C-3PO is gay based on appearance. Isn’t that the very thing they’re trying to fight? It’s a robot and probably has zero feelings about it one way or the other but gets forced into the convo to further a false dichotomy.
