Twilight of the Gods is an adult animated television series based on Norse mythology. The Twilight of the Gods refers events that led to the destruction of Midgard and Asgard, then the death of most of the Æsir and Vanir gods in an ultimate battle against evil, the forces of nature and the Giants.
Sigrid, an iron-willed warrior, saves Leif, a mortal king, who falls in love with her; they both survive Thor's wrath of terror which embarks them and a crew of crusaders on a merciless mission for vengeance, against all odds.
Sigrid is a half-human, half-Jötunn warrior who swears revenge on Thor after he interrupts her wedding and slaughters her clan.
Leif is a human king and Sigrid's lover who joins her quest for vengeance.

Honestly, the series is just okay for me. But it feels so slow in the worst points and has some scenes that could have been cut and no one would’ve argued. The over use of Christian imagery is a Snyder thing but I felt it didn’t fit given the context of the story. If you live in a world where gods can come down and wreck people, why would you suddenly start worshipping another religion? That feels like a big plothole to me. Personally, I feel God of War did a better job with the Norse gods than this series.

there's also the fact that, if the Christian God exists, then no other gods will. Simply due to the fact that he has no reason to tolerate other gods' existence, so he's not going to allow other gods' existence.

​@@ShalaiaWashington-t2dChristianity replaced Norse mythology which is a historic fact. Odin saw this and was terrified since he knows what being forgotten means. The older gods that fought with Sigrid were weak because they had no more worshipers and Odin thrives of worship. The god that will replace him is also a god that sacrificed himself for his people, which is something the Norse gods would never do.

Yeah the story was written weird and I did wish it stayed more true to the original mythology instead of being more violent and sexual.Still wouldn't mind seeing more of this show just to see how it ends

I enjoyed it up until around episode 5 or 6, and I felt it was a bit creepy. It really became a mess toward the end

The show was largely mediocre. The "flat art" artstyle is just really childish looking and ugly. The voice acting is horrendous, everyone basically whispers their lines and the accents are just really hard to understand. I looked up the cast and yeah, most of them aren't even voice actors, just actors and models. I'm no prude but even I have to admit the sex and the gore is needlessly explicit and gratuitous. Like I don't mind all that stuff if it has a purpose, you know? Also, why have a character like Leif who admonishes violence but the narrative constantly fixates on it and the scene with him and Sigrid slashing enemy warriors is portrayed as romantic. You can't engage in violence and then act appalled by it. You can't have your cake and eat it too. I think the show's only saving grace was the concept of the dying norse gods being reliant on human worship to survive and the scene with Jesus appearing to Odin in a vision which symbolized the parallels between them and the arrival of Christianity to Norway. They should have focused more on cool themes like that instead of all the sex and violence. Now, its just a Game of Thrones rip off in a sea of Game of Thrones rip offs.

I went to see this series thinking it would be something about Norse mythology but all I saw was a Scandinavian version of Sodom and Gommorah

Lmao, precisely because his slow motion choices are so odd. Not every slow motion shot feels like a Zach Snyder shot, but Zach Snyder slow mos are somehow still unmistakable
