The green triple calendar looks gorgeous based on the pictures on their website. The dials all look super deep (like a lot of depth) which makes you think they will be super thick but surprisingly they aren't that thick.

Can't wait for my blue 43mm GMT. I was looking for a GMT automatic that didn't look like a Rolex homage diver yet with decent water resistance. A watch you can take to overseas trips and swim with. This fits the bill. I was a bit concerned that 43mm may be too big for my wrist especially with that height so thank you for showing it on your wrist and giving me a peace of mind with your explanation. This is exactly why your reviews are very useful.

Very nice. Great to see them for real. I pre-ordered a 3-Hand. I agree about the Swisstech GMT movment, I really don’t know anything, good or bad, about them. They could be really great and become an option for The ETA. Time will tell. There was another watch that had both an internal rotating Bezel and an external unidirectional Bezel. The Prometheus Eagle Ray that came out in 2018. It also had a cushion case. It had the bezels regressed to the tourer. The GMT Bezel was the internal with the ET Bezel being the external.

I love these kind of vintage inspired 70s sports watches - right up my alley. Needs a cushion style case, indexed inner chapter ring and a triangular seconds hand in a bright colour. I'm tempted by this one, but part of this hobby is recognising watches you can admire but not give into the urge to buy - otherwise, you'd have 50 watches that were collectively worth $20,000. Maybe some people aspire to this, but I think deep down, most of us want a small and refined collection of our "grails". And when i say "small", I mean 3 to 8 watches.

I got the preorder email on these about a month ago and decided I'd wait a bit to decide - long story short, with the holidays and everything else going on, I totally forgot! The green GMT really caught my eye in the promotional photos, so I already had that model in mind, but your video has me leaning towards the quartz model instead of the automatic. Say what you will about quartz watches, but the curious choice of movement for the auto really made me think twice about spending over $500 on a brand that I've never owned before. For just $319 (bracelet only), however, I feel like I can take the risk. Great overview as always!

40mm GMT would be my pic ‘o the day👌 Lug to lug height looks rather lengthy on the 43mm with those end links factored in! That said, your brown piece looks funky-fresh!
@christophernewman28174 жыл бұрын
So, another $340 flies away of my bank account, like monkeys from the Wicked Witch’s lair. The 40mm Quartz GMT was the money option for me here. 43mm a little too big (I always find Stratton watches wear a little bigger for me). But adding one of these to my collection is a no-brainer. Rock solid engineering, a bulletproof Ronda movement and the sapphire glass. This will be my fourth Straton. I think we are now seeing a clear stratification of the micro-brand market; Zelos, Straton and Helm consistently ahead of most of the competition.

Not really my cup of tea but for what it offers it seems like a fair deal and I do quite like those leather straps. That side view of case design is quite well done and looks attractive. I have to echo your distaste for the clasp. That awful clasp with the striations is the ubiquitous, bottom of the barrel Chinese clasp you can get on the Chinese websites or on eBay for a few dollars. I've seen more than one watch on this channel selling for $300 to $500 use that clasp and it always baffles me. Just as a small design point I also think they could have been a little more creative with the case back logo. Maybe they don't need a mermaid riding a dolphin holding a trident fighting an octopus but that Globe logo is pretty "meh". Out of curiosity why did you not do a Timegrapher look at these new, relatively unknown movements, I think I would have been quite interesting.
@Kydos374 жыл бұрын
Really interesting piece but unfortunately not a great time for me to be buying so will probably let this one go. I really love the black, the blue and yellow pop just enough to give it character without being overdone. I kind of wish all three configs went with the timezone bezel on the inside and the minute bezel on the outside though. It makes more sense to me to have quicker access to the minute bezel as you're hardly going to be adjusting the timezone too often, in most cases. Great video Jody! Was really keen to see these in more than a picture.

Richard Spencer better looking is subjective but better specced how? I assume the phoibos has sapphire, does it have 20ATM? Does it also have a moveable internal bezel and movable outer bezel ie. two bezels? Is it offered in so many sizes, colors and strap options?

Great-looking watch, but I was put off by the no-name automatic movement in the GMT. The asking price for the quartz is a bit too steep.
@dialanddram4 жыл бұрын
Although, now that I take a closer look at the three-hand and even the triple calendar, they've got basically a poor-man's GMT function by either the external or internal bezels. The triple-calendar with its diver external and 12-hour internal that can be set to track a second time zone is growing on me pretty quickly! Seems like a great do-it-all travel watch.
