Fear the beaver!!!! Thanks for the awesome fishing vids! Living vicariously here!

Haha! Not sure what it was. Definitely not a beaver, I don’t think they exist out here in Texas. I could be wrong though. Something about knee height maybe? And moved funky. Are there porcupines in Texas? Maybe that. Not sure.... darkish in Color. Thanks for watching, hope you can get out soon also.

That looks like a fun trip. I thought I would catch "panfish" like that with my Risen Genesis 7' 6" 3WT but caught peacock bass which are good fighters. Glad to see Paul out there with you.

Yeah it was fun. How did it handle the peacock bass?

McFly Angler Fortunately they were not two pounders. The combo worked well. I can’t wait for my replacement rod tip to arrive (now I know why you store the rod in its sock after fishing) so I can use it again now that the temperature is not as blazing hot here in Miami.

What part of the Medina is this? I’m thinking about going soon, looks really nice
@McFlyAngler11 ай бұрын
So it’s north of the lake. Look on the map and if you find roads crossing you can usually park along the road (where signs permit) and walk down to the river. Good luck! Hope you catch a ton!

Well done. What size leader and line do you use on the 3 weight?
@McFlyAngler4 жыл бұрын
3wt fly line, double taper. 4x leader and 5x tippet. Except for that popper, had to go heavier with the popper.

McFly Angler do you make them for panfish?
@McFlyAngler4 жыл бұрын
I can, do you have a specific pattern in mind?
@micahlee86614 жыл бұрын
McFly Angler nope not really. I just saw a post on insta saying how soft hackles were good for blue gill
@McFlyAngler4 жыл бұрын
Oh for sure, they mimic spiders which are a common food source for sunfish. They love all terrestrials. Hoppers, beetles, ants, spiders, etc. yeah man, I’ve tied a lot. In fact the bully bluegill fly is similar to a soft hackle. I mean different, but the same idea. The rubber legs act like the soft hackle feathers. Body looks like the body of a spider. Similar concept just executed differently. Well i do sell flies, so if you want to give a few different soft hackles a try let me know. I can custom tie them up for you.

@McFlyAngler2 жыл бұрын

@thomaskitlica55722 жыл бұрын
@@McFlyAngler how can you get a record certified??? You have to use certified scales which means you have to transport the fish to a tackle shop that has certified scales!!!
@McFlyAngler2 жыл бұрын
Good question I’m not sure how one would certify a record. Probably by taking a picture against a measuring tape and then measuring the girth also. Usually they have ways of calculating that. I think that’s how people get their state records certified. But I don’t know, never tried.
